Ecstasy a Good Choice for a 1st Timer & an Experienced Cruiser?

My best friend from High School is turning 50 next month, and I'll be turning 50 next year. She has never been on a cruise, I have been on 10, but never on a Carnival ship. We want to take a girls trip to celebrate our milestone birthdays, and she is leaving the planning up to me. I was considering a 5-day out of Galveston on the Ecstasy. My question for you experienced Carnival cruisers. Do you think this would be a good choice for two women (Husbands left at home), in their 50's, who haven't seen each other in several years? Neither one of us are party animals we probably would want to lay about the pool, sightsee while in port, and catch up.

The Ecstasy is lovely... rather subdued compared to many other Carnival ships and I can assure you that the staff is amazing.

They have won the Crystal Eagle yearly award for customer satisfaction an stunning SIX times!! No other ship on the fleet can even get close.

You'll love the ship and her cruise director, Steve Cassel.

My sister and I took our first cruise on the Ecstasy. It was great, not a horribly wild party type of cruise (which was great for me, not much of a partier) but lots and lots to do, and also quiet places to sit and talk. We sat and played cards in the 'halls' by the casino, in the show room between shows/bingo/etc - and plenty to do otherwise. Good food, and the stops are nice. No one mugging you or anything - well, in Progreso the vendors would try putting jewelry on you in an attempt to sell it to you, but other than that... It's not a great big ship, which was fine. Plenty of walking though! Do it!

We took our first cruise on the Ecstasy and it absolutely sold us on the experience. It is just a great ship and the crew really go out of their way to make the experience very special. Not a loud and rowdy ship, but just a lot of fun.
