Hi All,

We will be on the Splendor in July and want to know a good hotel. right now it is between the Hyatt and Hilton. Hilton is $100 less expensive for the night before the cruise. Can we walk to some good places to eat and drink from the Hilton?

Thanks

Below is the link to the map at the Hilton Long Beach website. Most of the restaurants etc. are either on Pine Ave north of Ocean Blvd or where Pine Ave intersects Shoreline Dr. The Hyatt is more convenient for the restaurants along Shoreline Dr. but it is a very steep uphill walk to Ocean. A $100 would buy a lot of taxi rides in downtown Long Beach or you could use the free downtown bus: The Passport.

There is a "dueling piano" bar, Sgt. Peppers, also on Pine between Ocean and Shoreline. My adult kids say it is a lot of fun. I know the ones in New Orleans, Memphis, and Orlando are fun. http://www.pepperspianos.com/

for that price difference, the Hilton is perfectly fine. Here's the passport map which can help you get around. The Passport bus is free downtown. On that map, the Hilton is on the very lefthand side of the map, where Ocean Blvd & Golden Shore meet. (just below where it says World Trace Center). The Hyatt is at Pine Av and Shoreline Drive. At the lower edge of the shadowed blob labeled convention center.

Places to eat are a plenty up & down Pine Ave, at the Pike and Shoreline Village. Here's some pics of all those options.

During the summer I like places with sidewalk or outdoor seating. Some of my favs are Georges Greek Cafe, King's Fish House, Yard House & Tequila Jack's (if you can get a table under the umbrellas outside).

Patricia, thanks for the Sgt. Pepper's Dueling Pianos link. We will be in San Pedro next weekend, and this may be a great evening or brunch (before sailing) event.

Ironic that this is a must do thing for us on vacation, but can't drive downtown to go to this location! (At tops 5 miles)
