MotoSauce Posted April 2, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 2, 2010 I've seen a lot on these boards about price drops. I know that if my particular category goes down in price, I can call and get the new price and receive OBC (since we are past final payment). When we booked, we went with an inside cabin since the price for a balcony was roughly $300 pp more, and we'd rather spend that on excursions, booze, etc. I've noticed on similar cruises on the Serenade in April (ours is in May), prices have been dropping (originally these cruises were the same price as ours), and now a balcony would only be about $70 more pp than what we paid for an inside. I know this may not happen for our particular cruise, but if it does, could I switch from an inside to a balcony and pay the extra cost? Thanks! eddiesgal Posted April 2, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 2, 2010 Shouldn't be problem....as long as you're upgrading and spending additional money they don't seem to mind:p I'll keep my fingers crossed that the cruise drops enough for you to get that balcony!:)
MotoSauce Posted April 2, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted April 2, 2010 Thanks! I'll be sure to give it a try if the price is right :) (Fingers crossed too!)
madforcruising Posted April 2, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2010 You can always upgrade for the difference of what you paid for your cabin and what the category you are upgrading to is going for at the time you call to upgrade.
yogimax Posted April 2, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 2, 2010 RCCL would be very happy if you changed to a more expensive cabin!
cruiseguy1016 Posted April 2, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 2, 2010 I have seen it happen where you can upgrade for less money. An example; When you book, an oceanview is $800/pp and a balcony is $900/pp so you book the oceanview for $800/pp. Several weeks (or months) later there is a price drop where oceanviews are $600 and balconies are now $750/pp. You save $50/pp and upgrade to a balcony. Or you could save $200/pp and keep your oceanview. It doesn't happen often but it does happen. Whichever you choose, RCI has no problem with you doing this. MotoSauce Posted April 2, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted April 2, 2010 Thanks guys! I really appreciate the answers. I actually just accepted a job this afternoon ( I graduate in May...the cruise is a graduation present!). So I think we're probably going to go ahead and upgrade to a balcony (now that we're a dual income household!!) and keep our fingers crossed for a price drop!!
