principessa7 Posted April 24, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2010 We are leaving in a couple of weeks for an 8 day cruise with NCL and were planning on driving from Atlantic City, NJ and parking at the terminal. 8 days works out to be $240. Are there any cheaper options?? Or is it worth the convenience of traveling with 2 small children (3yo and 6yo)?

KT32 Posted April 25, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2010 You could look into amtrak. There's also a discount code for passengers boarding an NCL cruise which amounts to 20% on most trains. From Penn station, its a pretty easy cab ride.

From Penn station, its a pretty easy cab ride. Even though Amtrak handles the ticketing for the train from Atlantic City, the trains themselves are operated by New Jersey Transit, and I don't believe that any cruise discounts apply. Hopefully I'm wrong. http://www.acestrain.com Otherwise--and probably more conveniently--is the frequent bus service operated by Academy Lines, Greyhound Lines, and New Jersey Transit between Atlantic City and Port Authority Bus Terminal. http://www.academybus.com http://www.greyhound.com http://www.njtransit.com

You're in the best position to judge whether your children could tolerate bus or train travel, as suggested by GTJ. Personally, with two children that age I would opt for the convenience or driving to and parking at the pier. If it will make you feel a little better, your parking will cost $210, not $240. It's a 7 night cruise and you will be parking there for seven 24 hour periods.
