Ice Bar News and Pictures

Sometimes I feel like I am stalking the Epic! I find myself searching way too often on random little tidbits that I can find on the Epic. I'm sorry to say that it has become my guilty pleasure.

So-cool events in Miami hosted an NCL EPIC ice bar preview for travel agents (so jealous I couldn't be there because I even live in Miami!). This bar was designed by Dean Holderman who is also designing the EPIC ice bar.

Anyway, I found a couple of neat articles regarding the ice bar.

There are some pictures of So-cool's ice bar at their site here:

(since they both are designed by Dean, maybe it will have the same look and/or maybe this is what the fur coats will look like)

Awesome! Thanks for digging around! I know what you mean about spending way too much time searching for news about the Epic. I can't wait until people have actually CRUISED on her so I can spend even more time reading about it! I cruise in September and it feels like forever away... I've been doing research since I put my deposit down last week and I feel like I've already read everything there is to read. I love new info!

DH and I have been to a similar bar in Vegas- very fun experience! You really can't stay too long (over 30-60 minutes) because the temp does get to you after a while. You have to come dressed as well- no open toed shoes (the other bar had boots to borrow) and if you are wearing skirts or shorts- it is going to be mighty cold! There was a group of club goers who were in short skirts and were shivering while DH and I were enjoying our drinks.

This looks very cool but with only being open 5 hours a day and with a ship of 5000 passengers, only 875 passengers will get to experience the ICE BAR. With such restrictive vacancy, you may have a better chance at bowling on the Epic.

For those that make it inside, please take as many pictures for those of us that will frozen out :( :(

Check you math not that the story is much better but if everyone stays the full 45 minutes you get 1160 into the bar. If they average 30 minutes you get 1750 into the ice bar. :(

I doubt ALL the passengers on the ship will go either. There are those that just don't drink, those that don't like the cold and then children and some that can't drink for various reasons. So, I'm sure it won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Now subtract all people under the age of 21 ... and that helps the #'s - not all of the 4000 people on board can drink.

Bingo. Subtract the children, and everyone should get their 30 - 45 mins....plus you'll have those who refuse to pay the cover charge, on the principle that it "should be included", because aren't cruises supposed to be all-inclusive?
