Port of Mobile Update May 2, 2010 - 2:00 PM

We are closely monitoring the situation with the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and the potential impact to our operation in the Port of Mobile.

Based on the information we have received from the local port officials and the U.S. Coast Guard in Mobile, we do not anticipate any disruption to the Carnival Fantasy cruise departing on Monday, May 3, 2010. We are expecting the Port of Mobile to remain open and the cruise to operate as scheduled.

We are looking forward to welcoming our guests aboard the Carnival Fantasy on Monday. The Captain, officers, staff and crew are dedicated to providing our guests with fun and memorable cruise vacations.

-----------

The are setting up "scrubbers" at the entrance to Mobile and New Orleans. For now, NOLA is not in danger as they are west of the slick.

Mobile, however we be covered if the track continues, and even Tampa could be in danger.

The next week could be very interesting for the Fantasy.

Carnival has taken down the travel advisory link from their website so it appears the possibility of ports closing has passed.

As big duck said this notice that was put up on Sunday has been taken down as far as I can see too. (not that it said anything but they were monitoring the situation).

This is a old notice.

We are going May 8th out of New Orleans, despite people trying to sensationalize this, will East Coast cruises be affected??? and flaming me for saying I would watch the closer ports to see if they will be affected. ..but but but, the oil will get here too .. exactly, some oil doesnt close the ports, watch the closer ports. They will be the first to be commented on by Carnival so you would know what to expect ...
