blondi_21 Posted May 5, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 5, 2010 We're going to the Eastern Caribbean in end of January 2011. We're going to Bahamas, St Thomas, Puerto Rico and Grand Turk Island. My dad in-laws birthday would be during our time away so I wanted to send him a postcard and to my friends too from the caribbean. How long would it take to get it from the Caribbean to Oregon, USA? Does anyone know who send out postcards at ports?
bruce-r Posted May 6, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2010 Mail from St Thomas or Puerto Rico should be the quickest, plus they use the UPSP, so you can use the same stamps you have at home. I'd bet the mail from Grand Turk would take the longest. You'll still probably beat the card home.
Aplmac Posted May 6, 2010 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2010 Mail from Barbados to the East Coast takes about a week. To the West Coast ..a bit longer. Coming down to the islands, it takes a bit longer travelling the other way probably due to local lethargy in our various Sorting Rooms. .

Aplmac Posted May 7, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 7, 2010 Im not going to Barbados. Im going to Bahamas, St Thomas, San Juan and Grand Turk. Same lethargic Caribbean lifestyle, Blondi! ;) You think 'different islands' make any difference to how the banana-benders work, or don't? :D . bruce-r Posted May 7, 2010 #6 Share Posted May 7, 2010 That's what people mean when they say "island time". No hurry mon.
blondi_21 Posted May 8, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted May 8, 2010 Im not going to Barbados so why tell me bout it? There's a reason why I posted the island that I will be going to. They're the caribbean islands but all the countries are different which therefore are not the same.

serene56 Posted May 8, 2010 #10 Share Posted May 8, 2010 Yoru family will NOT receive post cards from the islands while you are on your cruise. In fact they will receive them when you are already home and told them all about your cruise more then once. Mailed from Grand Cayman---took 6 weeks. Mailed from St Thomas-- took almost 3 weeks. Dont forget to add USA on your postcards. Remember the postage-except for San Juan, St Thomas --will cost you more. You can mail it from the ship or a post box in the ports. blondi_21 Posted May 9, 2010 Author #11 Share Posted May 9, 2010 I guess there's no point in sending a post card if it takes nearly a month to get it. Im only going for 7 days.
