Voyager OTS - secrets, favorites, don't miss

Recommended Posts

I did not find anything on this topic by the search function. I few years ago before going on the Conquest for the first time, we found a Conquest secrets thread and learned some very valuable information about her.

So...all you experienced Voyagers tell us all about this ship. Any secrets, must do's, must don'ts...any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Annette

Its really no secret once its been posted here but here it goes. Walk on the deck that your life boat drill is on (I forgot the deck number). Go all the way to the front of the ship, take the stairs going up and you will find yourself on the helipad area. Complete with park benches to sit on and relax.

Not a secret, but....if you walk all the way through the windjammer and go into the Island Grill (I think that's the name of it) they have an omelet station in the mornings. Can get omelets made your way. No lines the first couple of morning before everyone finds it.

The deck to find the stairs to the heliport is deck 4.

Not specific to Voyager, but on sea days there is an absolutely awesome salad bar in the main dining room. Many people don't know about this, but when they discover it they are hooked.

Deck 8, above the library is where the Internet spot is, but there are also computers and WiFi on deck 7 in the library. There is an internal stair case between the two decks. I think this is specific to Voyager as I did not see it on Explorer.

The business center on deck 6 is a great place to watch the parades in the promenade. Get there early to get a seat.

If you are sailing at the right time, Derek Lewis will be in the Pig and Whistle bar on the Promenade doing his "Adult Day Care" show nightly. Don't miss Derek, he's great.

I will be on my 5th sailing on Voyager in January and I can't wait for the salad.:)

There is a public access door near the upper deck of the theater to get out from inside to the port or starboard sides of deck 5 leading to the heliport area. I learned this when being toured on the ship by a crew member. Not sure I have seen the same access on other Voyager Class ships....could be there don't know, never really needed to use it.

The helipad has a great view at night but they lock the gates to it.;)

I went on the Voyager in 2002, and its a wonderful and beautiful ship. But I had my own personal issues with the friends I was with that made it not so enjoyable. But the food was wonderful, and there is something always to do. There is the Rock Climbing Wall, the ice skating shows are wonderful, the shows they have in the theater was wonderful. I didn't get to take pictures the way I wanted too because my friends always rushed me, so I didn't get the type of photo's I wanted, Also it seems as like we were on so many Islands I really didn't get to see all I wanted to see on the ship. So make sure you are with friends or family that like to have a good time.

Oh and we had the promenade room, which was a excellent room, you could do a whole lot of people watching, and I always kept a eye on the sales they were having on the ship.

This year I'm going on the sister ship of Voyager which is the Explorer with my husband and a few other couples, and I'm sure this time I'll have a way better experience and take better pictures this time. I hope you enjoy yourself!!!

You will like Explorer. Very similar to Voyager in layout. I think the Promenade Cafe on Voyager is way better than Explorer, but sailing under the Verrezano Bridge beats the heck out of sailing out of Galveston. Be sure to get a seat in Dizzy's lounge on deck 14 early so that you can watch and photograph the sail away.

  • 1 month later...
Does anyone know if you can get a deck of playing cards from either the casino or pursers desk? Thanks!

Voyager actually has a game room on deck 14 where you can pick up cards in the daytime

Count 'em first as folks tend to mess up the decks and cards get "lost in the shuffle" (pun intended)

My favorite "secret" about the Voyager is Adventure Ocean Beach. It's up on deck 12 at the back of the ship behind Johnny Rocket's. Don't know what time of year you are going, but when school is in session there are not very many kids at Adventure Ocean and they don't go outside very much. There are lounge chairs and tables back there. It's usually quiet and you can always find a lounge chair and the view is great. I don't know how busy it is in the summer, but even during spring break is wasn't crowded.

We did her back in April, and doing her again in April.

Find the peek-a-boo Bridge, where you can see the bridge.

They do look up and wave at you.

Get tickets to the Ice Show, it is free, just limited seating.

Do the Kitchen galley tour, very informative.

Do the Bridge tour, I thought driving was hard.

Do the Murder Mystery Dinner.

Kind of cheesy, but always fun to do.

Go do the putt putt golf, fun for all ages.

Also get a guy to go in a take a picture of the waterfall urinal.

Eat at least once in the MDR for Breakfast and Lunch. - Yum.

Tell Iris, in the MDR, it was OUR pleasure.

and we hope to see her in April.

Don't you have to be a Crown & Anchor Diamond to do the kitchen and bridge tours?

There sometimes is a back stage tour in the theater that is open to all.

I just checked it out on the new C&A benefits board. One has to be Diamond Plus to do the kitchen and bridge tours.

I am sorry, you have to be in a suite. ( Grand or Higher, no Junior )

We had the Royal Family Suite ( 5 of us )

And got the tours through that.

This time we are only 4, so are opting for a Grand Suite.

Can't see an extra $300 per person for the Owners.

But have to go on Voyager one last time,

before she moves next door ( or port over ).
