pxy cda Posted May 21, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2010 DH and I are considering migrating from RCCL to Celebrity now that we will be platinum members. Just wondering about the difference in experience and what ships are people's faves. Having cruised on Grandeur, Adventure and Independence - We rate them 1 :D- Grandeur (best food & best crew best overall service), closely by :) Adventure (Food & Spa and overall ship experience) and Indy  very last (beautiful ship but poor food, average cabin/wait service and just too big) This is not a slam at RCCL or Indy (I think Indy is great for families or people that need that kind of entertainment) We are more suited to her smaller vessels that have better quality control on service and food. DH and I are in our mid forties and enjoy a relaxing adult atmosphere. We are yet to spend any amount of time around the main pool. We opt for the solarium (adult pool), spa, food and quieter areas of the ship. We also enjoy the predinner shows and the casino and generally select our cruises for itinerary (longer 8 plus days are ideal) So please post your thoughts and experiences with X and help us decide which cruise to do next. I do like the look of the refurbished Connie but want to hear about all these wonderful ships and any insider tips about why you like one over the other.

Mercury and Century are our favorites now but Mercury will soon be gone. But the Connie class is good, too. I don't think we would enjoy the larger ships, however I could be wrong. We like to feel we are on a ship , not a floating resort. But everyone has their own preferences. Try a cruise that seems good fit for you. reklawr Posted May 21, 2010 #3 Share Posted May 21, 2010 Our favorite ships are any of the Century class ships. Century, Galaxy and Mercury. We already miss Galaxy. They had wonderful service on Galaxy. Mercury service is just about as good.
USVI-4-me Posted May 21, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 21, 2010 Don't know where there was a quiet area on Equinox. It had so much noise we had to forego lounge drinks before dinner. Biggest disappointment was missing the martinis. Didn't want to have cocktail hour in the crowded little cabin.
USVI-4-me Posted May 22, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 22, 2010 Galaxy is my favorite Celebrity Ship. In the near future, I'd book M-class over S-class. Maybe, smaller is better even if it's older. S-class seems to have more peoplebut less choice public spaces. Sky Lounge was often used for "Private Functions". Splendor of the Seas holds a special place in my heart. Also enjoyed: Sun Princess, Star Princess, and Coral. Might go back to Princess even with the smoke. First, we'll cruise RCL again for the great ocean views. swigso Posted May 22, 2010 #6 Share Posted May 22, 2010 Hi, Our favourite ship was the Summit, however having just sailed the Connie I think that both are superb. You will love the T Pool area there are many quiet areas and the attention to detail from the crew on both ships is amazing. The Happy Happy man if still on the Summit always helps to start your day with a smile. We have sailed many times on RCCl but now prefer Celebrity. CrusingJoe Posted May 22, 2010 #7 Share Posted May 22, 2010 As you can see we have sail on RCCL a lot and find the Radiance class ship are the best. I think it's what your looking for. Why not give it a try.

satchiesmom Posted May 22, 2010 #9 Share Posted May 22, 2010 We've done 4 cruises on Century and just love it! Can't wait for the Hawaii itineraries!
gracecarmo Posted May 22, 2010 #10 Share Posted May 22, 2010 We really prefer the M class ships. The Mercury was our first X cruise and still is special to us, but after cruising all the M class ships we are hooked on them. There are plenty of quiet places, and most of all we love the Spa Cuisine court.
cruiserbryce Posted May 23, 2010 #11 Share Posted May 23, 2010 we've been on 5 of the RC ships and liked the size and layout of Radiance the best...but one of our favs ever has been Equinox...if you get a chance I think you would enjoy that class
Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted May 23, 2010 #12 Share Posted May 23, 2010 My favorite Celebrity ship is the Constellation. Wonderful crew!
shipfriend_max Posted May 23, 2010 #13 Share Posted May 23, 2010 My favourite ships are the Millennium-class-ships. :) But Solstice-class is also good. :) I don't like Xpedition and Century-class-ships --> too small
royalcruz Posted May 23, 2010 #14 Share Posted May 23, 2010 We love Millenium, Constellation, and Solstice. We were bored on Century, but that was our first X cruise quite some time ago. We also like the Voyager class ships on RCCL but prefer X for it's elegance, service, no smoking, and few announcements.
Rare shipshape sam Posted May 23, 2010 #15 Share Posted May 23, 2010 We, so far, have preferred the M class ships, with Infinity our favorite. :)
drfun48 Posted May 23, 2010 #16 Share Posted May 23, 2010 I've been on every X ship. There is no doubt my favorite is the Xpedition.Small, intimate, tremendous service, all inclusive, open bar 24/7,no tipping, excursions included...no cards to present or slips to sign, plenty of room,no chair hogging and the bests ports of call anywhere. texkan Posted May 23, 2010 #17 Share Posted May 23, 2010 Being on any Celebrity Ship would be great w/me. I guess my favorite is the Constellation, have third Constellation cruise booked.
bellybutton530 Posted May 24, 2010 #18 Share Posted May 24, 2010 I also loved the Galaxy. But before that, I loved the Zenith. I am hoping that I love the Constellation. I'll be on board for the Nov 20th sailing to the Caribbean. I'll be celebrating my 60th birthday with 6 of my closest friends and family members. This will be my 56th cruise, and I can hardly wait. I've pretty much settled on Celebrity since 2002, as most of my favorite ships are no longer in service. Those ships include Vistafjord, Sagafjord, Norway, and Marco Polo. BettyCruiser Posted May 24, 2010 #19 Share Posted May 24, 2010 My last cruise was on the Century and I really loved this ship! I'm hoping to be able to sail her through the panama canal next year and sail up the west coast in 2012:) Beth
venicecruiser Posted May 24, 2010 #20 Share Posted May 24, 2010 My alltime fave Celebrity ship was Horizon who left the fleet a while back....I still miss that ship! (I also loved Celebrity's first ship-Meredian) I was just on Equinox on April and expected to hate it due to its very large size. I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! So right now I guess Equinox if the favorite followed by Summit. Claudia
USVI-4-me Posted May 24, 2010 #21 Share Posted May 24, 2010 We really prefer the M class ships. The Mercury was our first X cruise and still is special to us, but after cruising all the M class ships we are hooked on them. There are plenty of quiet places, and most of all we love the Spa Cuisine court. It's good the M-Class ships still have quiet areas. They will be my Celebrity choice for awhile. Do the M-Class ships have the same food in the MDR, cafeteria, etc. as the S-Class ships. The Millie, on a 2007 TA, had an additional lunch area at the back of the buffet where a daily new variety of food was served. In the evening, the Millie had a sitdown area at the back of the cafeteria with table cloths, an entree menu, nd table service for a small extra amount per person. Since the Equinox cafeteria choices were identical & limited every evening, I think fondly back to the better food choices and ambience of our 2007 cruise. The Millie had the t-pool, larger aqua spa cafe, plus, the additional steam and shower choices in the Persian Garden. The Millie MDR had a great view out to the sea as it was on the back of the ship with a huge glass wall. Oh dear, the cabins and bathrooms were bigger too. The main elevator area was up the side of the grand foyer with gorgeous views of the ocean with loud "entertainment" elsewhere on the ship. I hope the Constellation doesn't have too much S-Class features at the expense of the above listed pleasures. Altogether, it seems that M-Class ship has fewer passengers and more choices. pxy cda Posted May 24, 2010 Author #22 Share Posted May 24, 2010 What great feedback on Celebrity. I am reading a lot of fans of M class and Connie. Keep those comments coming! I really like all the varying feedback.
Rare shipshape sam Posted May 25, 2010 #23 Share Posted May 25, 2010 M class ships are a nice size. Approx. 1950 passengers, have a Thassotheropy pool located in Spa area that adults can use and not pay a fee. Have a healthy food service area there also for breakfast and lunch. I love the pool deck area where you can walk/jog. It is of a nice size. Like the bar area at the back of the ship to watch the wake too. Hope to be on an S class ship in a year or two! :) Next up for us is the 92 passenger Xpedition unless I can talk my DW into another cruise beforehand. We do get to go on the Allure of the Seas this coming December, so will see both extremes within one year.
