OrdieJ Posted September 23, 2010 #26 Share Posted September 23, 2010 The big upgrade they are doing is taking the azipod propulsion system out and putting in a hyperdrive system!
GayleR Posted September 23, 2010 #27 Share Posted September 23, 2010 Likewise, I wouldn't expect anything major. This is just the usual periodic maintenance drydock. She may get cosmetic things like new carpets, new mattresses, etc, but no new structural components. Yep, it's usually required maintenance. They usually do new carpets, fabrics and I'm betting flat screens will be put in the cabins. I have to wait a whole year to sail on her. Well, the anticipation is fun too. :p We've never sailed on a Spirit class ship so we are looking forward to it. Gee, I'm not sure if I can get used to NOT having to go to deck 5 or 9 to go from one end of the ship to the other.
tidecruiser Posted September 24, 2010 #28 Share Posted September 24, 2010 Thanks for the replys. I agree, with just two weeks this would be a normal maintenance dry dock. Just was checking to see if anyone had heard anything that would be a nice surprise.

I read on another thread that while the passengers were getting off on Sunday, they were already lifting the waterslide off with a crane and clearing out the casino. jrannis Posted February 8, 2011 #31 Share Posted February 8, 2011 I read on another thread that while the passengers were getting off on Sunday, they were already lifting the waterslide off with a crane and clearing out the casino. great news, or at least news. Thanks for posting. Strange they were pulling off the waterslide, I would love to see it get a better waterslide, but probably was just in the way of other work and putting back same slide. anyways, thanks. zqvol Posted February 8, 2011 #32 Share Posted February 8, 2011 Not much was planned. Don't expect to be able to tell that the ship has been in dry dock, except that the sea grass that was growing on the hull in December will be gone and hopefully the TVs will be flat screen. TCG AJG Posted February 9, 2011 #36 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Per John Heald's post on Facebook this evening: "during the Carnival Legend's dry dock these next two weeks she will get a beautiful adults only Serenity Deck" Yay! DW and I sail Feb 20th without our kids. Nothing against other people's kids, but we were kinda worried about it being February break for lots of school systems; that our cruise might be one long episode of "Suite Life on Deck." A serenity area sounds fabulous.

kkestone Posted February 9, 2011 #41 Share Posted February 9, 2011 whats the difference between a serenity deck and the adults only aft pool area. Sound like kids are restricted in each case
Lady_Jag Posted February 9, 2011 #42 Share Posted February 9, 2011 whats the difference between a serenity deck and the adults only aft pool area. Sound like kids are restricted in each case Serenity deck is 18 and up and strictly enforced. The ones I've seen have had only hot tubs, but they also have the plushier padded loungers, big umbrellas, and wicker seating area. They also pipe in more soothing music. Bookworm77 Posted February 10, 2011 #48 Share Posted February 10, 2011 I am so thrilled to see there will be a Serenity area added to the Legend!! We were on Glory last year and absolutely loved the area, especially the big double pappasan chairs. We're on Legend this March and will be using this area a lot!! Rare Clearwater Posted February 10, 2011 #49 Share Posted February 10, 2011 I agree! I had a less than stellar experience on The Sensation on my last cruise and the Serenity area made it sooo much better. I was there often! Also, someone asked about the slide if it was leaving and he said no, it would be reinstalled. I am curious for those cruising on her before me what it will look like with the Serenity and the slide? Can't wait for reports!
MagnoliaFly Posted February 10, 2011 #50 Share Posted February 10, 2011 Sounds like it is going to look great. I'm wondering if they are going to have 1 or 2 whirlpools now over there and if the pool will stay or if they are taking it out to fit more chairs. John heald said he'd post photos of the transformation soon on his FB page. Can't wait to see.
