I have fooled around in the casinos a little but I have no idea what I am doing or what to play. I have played Let it Ride once and won big, but I still don't know how to play! Any tips and/or advice would be great, I would like to be able to really enjoy the casino this trip.

Hello, and welcome to the world of casinos on cruise ships.....

First thing you need to do is research the games. You will see a lot of threads here on several different casino games that you will encounter in a casino. The key is to pick one where you will have the most fun. This being if you lose money, yes dissapointing, but not devastating. You hit the nail on the head on your last sentence, that being able to really enjoy the casino. If you win, wonderful, if you lose, okay....no biggie. At least you had fun, and COULD have won.

Some games to consider, Blackjack. But straight blackjack. No fancy games, or 6:5 Blackjack games. I don't like BJ that much anymore, but would be a good game to really get involved in as a beginner. Cruise ships have a lot of beginners and will find others there. Three card poker is another good one. Craps is my favorite, but tough on a beginner, but can be learned rather easy doing research on. It is the most fun game in the casino in my opinon. I have won more $$$$ in craps than on any other casino game and had the most fun here.

Good luck and enjoy!

You're allowed to use "cheat sheets" at BJ--tells you if you should "hit" or "stay" when dealt any given hand....that's very helpful, since if you play by the "rules" your odds are much better.

Most casinos will offer lessons...after all, they WANT you to play! Check and see if your ship does that! It's a great way to feel more comfortable playing the table games, and those at the table with you (who know what they're doing) will appreciate it!

Odds-wise others may disagree, but I think Roulette is good for beginners. You can 'see' everything right in front of you, every bet is decided win/lose after the ball lands, etc. Easy to separate your bet from others. You can't 'influence' others by taking a card from the first chair, etc. You can watch others play before you join in.

You can bet simple (red/blk, hi/low, etc) or you can scatter around inside on single numbers, or simple two/four number splits. Easy to follow table minimums.

A few etiquette items to learn as you go, but read on any casino site (buy in, using colored roulette chips, no-more-bets, don't pick up winnings until the whole table paid)

Craps is also way easy to learn, if you read up first on simple pass-line with odds. Ignore 'all' the other bets for now. Then while you are standing at the craps table and finally able to see 'down' into the action, you can watch how a place-bet or come-bet operates. Leave all other bets alone until you come back from your first trip or two and read up more.

Nothing wrong at all with the roulette recommendation.

Thumbs up!

Another question: Is there a surcharge for buying in on a Princess ship using your charge card?

I was reading another thread about there sometimes being a 3% surcharge. If that's the case I would definitely bring my own cash.

Under what circumstances do you pay a fee to buy in?

Use you card in the Slots to get cash without the 3%fee.

Say debit $100 from your Sail & Sign account to play a slot machine. Once you get the money in the slot machine, then cash out to your Sail & Sign and go to the cashier then cash out for cash. no 3% fees.

Did I explain this right?
