June 1st announcement

Are the wealthier or "classier" as you say, people going to want to book on Deck 2 and 3 or an inside on any deck? I think that might not work out.

Yes they will. Wealth has nothing to do with class at all.

 

Raise the prices 10% and the C&D clients will go away and new ones will be attracted who did not know the difference and everybody wins. Sometimes the best strategy is to fire your least profitable clients.

I have the same question and cannot seem to find an answer?

Does anyone know if this is for onboard bookings only?

 

Anybody?? Does the OBC only apply if you book on board?? What if you book 18 months out direct??

It's easy to react negatively to what Coach T is saying because of the way he presents it, but to be honest, he isn't saying anything that Richard Fain hasn't said more eloquently, especially as it pertains to the pricing of Oasis.

 

It's also not uncommon for businesses to want to rid themselves of their least-profitable customers. I work for a major bank and we do it all the time.

Many of those so called "low class" people buy a lot of drinks and also spend a lot of time in the casino. If I'm running a cruise line the number 1 most important thing is having the ships sailing full. Empty staterooms bring in 0 revenue.

Well, just canceled my 3 cruises for next year and will rebook on Majesty in 2 weeks. Called and SH is not combinable, so will book onboard so I get the OBC and balcony discount or a sav cert if one comes out.

But they just don't. They were actually making more money sailing with some empty staterooms because of onboard revenue than they did when they lowered the price.

And I've always felt those who book a few of weeks out and get a steal of the deal were the smart ones. Sorry if my presence on the ship lowers the class of cruiser on board. I promise to act refined and dignified while in your presence.

 

Kewlguy I would sail with you & you can act any way you want! You are the smart one catching the deal of the day.

As it has been stated this is a mass cruise line if Coacht wants to look down his nose when RCI lowers the price to fill the ships he should be sailing on the luxuary lines. Remember Coacht money does not buy class never did & never will.

They are not personal. It is just business. the 80-20 rule.

I just wish they would get the crown and anchor web site to work internationallly as alot of members live abroad as well :) We dont get much info on changes and heck im still waiting for my D+ kit 18 months after reaching the level... thank goodness atleast the benefits work onboard :D

Truth be told, while the free drinks are great the best part of the CL is the fellow cruisers we have met. We have made a lot of great friends in that lounge.

For those of us that book from home and 18 months out, we still appear to only get one benefit. This is where an OBC from Shareholders should be allowed along with either a balcony discount/C&A Savings Certificate.

Thanks Patti.......that is how I was reading it as well. I'm ok with it, the benefit upgrades are still a positive step, but I Rarely book on board. Heck I've booked at home the day cruises are released.

As I was perusing the Diamond Plus Benefits, I noticed that it appears that someone at RCL can't add. If you look at the Diamond Plus ON BOARD BOOKING + CERTIFICATE FOR A 3-5 NIGHT SAILING, the On Board Credit is $25, the Savings Certificate is $25, for a total of $60?:confused:

I'm trying hard to follow you and have read every post........but I just don't believe selling higher priced cabins and raising prices will increase on board revenue charges to offset .........shall we say 30 empty cabins?

 

One thing I'm sure we will agree on..........and empty cabin produces ZERO on board charges..........regardless of the price of the cabins that did sell down the hall or one deck up.

While I'm greatful for the new benefits...........it appears to me advanced bookings are down.......whatever the reason. I still think it is a reflection of the economy more than anything.........but it is evident to me, advanced bookings and thus deposit money cash flow must be down.

Advanced bookings are way down. In a horrible economy it's difficult for people to tie up money so far in advance of their cruise. They also lost a lot of customers when they made the Crown & Anchor changes back in September. More than they expected.

Patti, I so agree with you. We like to book far in advance, too. Maybe if we cross our fingers and spin around 3 times, RCL will up the Shareholder benefits.:rolleyes:

 

I'm dizzy already, is it working???:D Have the proof of shareholder page all ready to send off!!!

 

We book well in advance too, years sometimes!! Like our NOS TA we cruised with you!:)

Through June you can book from home and still get the OBC that is from on board booking. Just cancelled 3 cruises and rebooked at lunch.

 

I looked at doing that too but would that not mean that I would not get a price reduction after final payment as the new booking fell after May 17th?? I am booked out already til Feb 2012 (all before the new Best Price Guarantee) and I am weighing the pros and cons of making any changes to my existing bookings.

Forgive if this has been answered but can someone answer a couple of questions please-

 

I noticed that in the perks boxes it looks like Diamond members get an Amenity delivered to their stateroom...isnt this usually only a Dplus perk?

 

Also they have the diamond sign at the complimentary upgrade section.

There shouldn't be a business out there trying to get rid of their least-profitable customers. especially banks.

 

Maybe the unprofitable ones.

 

RCI has 26 million available passenger cruise days. $20 per day profit is all they need to more than triple their net income from last year.
