boarding time - Oasis - Ft. Lauderdale

Recommended Posts

The rooms aren't ready until ~1pm, so unless you want to eat lunch (carrying around any bags you brought on), I wouldn't bother trying to get to the port before 12pm. Most people are saying that embarkation on Oasis has been very fast (< 30 mins).

What time did they let you board.

On the May 29th sailing a week ago, the hotel shuttle got us to the ship at 12:15 pm and it took us 21 minutes to get checked in and board the ship. Not bad except for the pushy Diamond members who think they are queens for waiting line (yes, we're diamond too, and let their line go first so waited an extra 2-3 minutes).

We looked at the regular lines and there was no waiting -- we should have moved over and left the diamon line!! So silly!! And with 90 counters (45 of each side), it was crowded shoulder to shoulder getting checked in!!

Getting off the ship was really smooth considering 6100 people got off. If you wait till the number "after" your number is called, there will be less luggage left to find your own -- what's another 10 minute? Everyone was pretty much on their way off the ship by 9:30 or so.

Agree with what the others said. Their goal is to have the ship disembarked by 9:30 am in preparation for the embarking passengers. Now, whether or not this gets done will affect your boarding time. However, as stated, it is a very quick embarkation and we were less than 20 minutes from curb to ship. Didn't even have the opportunity to wait in the Platinum lounge. :p

The fire doors in the hallways are closed and locked until 1 pm - no leeway, no just slipping into the room to put your things down... you cannot get to your room. So - have your lunch if you want to and be prepared to hold your carry-ons until your room is available.

A tip, though: as the rooms open up at 1:00, so does the Windjammer. It will suddenly be less crowded after that time. So the decision is yours as to what time to board, but just know that it is a very expedient and slick system they have at their own terminal, and I'm sure you'll be onboard quickly.

Have fun. :)

A couple of weeks ago we arrived around 10:45 and were on the ship by 11:30. But, it seems the ship has been arriving early in Ft. Lauderdale so they can work on welding the wave protectors in front of the missing life boats.

I think this was unusually early as they announced the casino was going to have to close at 1:00 am on the last night since they would be close to Ft. Lauderdale. So, the luggage is off very early and we were off the ship by 7:30, therefore they are ready to reboard earlier.

Absolutely the worst advice. Want to see crowded port, get there at noon

We got there at 11:15, were on board at 11:30. It was perfect and the best embarkation we've experienced. I would not get there much later than that, but I don't like crowds. We got to WJ around noon, and it was almost full.

We waited until about 1:30 to head to the Oasis on the Inaugural sailing assuming it was going to be a zoo getting on but once we dropped of the bags it was less than 15 minutes from check-in to "welcome aboard, please use the purell & have a glass of champagne" :D

Now getting off was a different story - they hadn't figured out the logistics to that one too well since no one wanted to get off!

The ship is back to arriving in FLL at her regular time of around 4:30 and she still starts embarkation at around 11:00. Our first time in January we boarded at 11:10 and two weeks ago it was 11:30 due to a Coast Guard inspection.
