chipmaster Posted June 9, 2010 #28 Share Posted June 9, 2010 I'm no medical doctor but as long as the virus isn't fast mutating I expect you do develop a resistance with repeated exposure. The question is how often one is or wants that exposure :D All I know is after a few trips to the far east ( not 20 ) that the family and I can pretty much eat any of the street vendors with no ill effect but find many times my adventurous western companions don't fair very well  Does anyone know if you can build immunity/tolerance to this virus? Rare karatemom2 Posted June 9, 2010 #29 Share Posted June 9, 2010 Does anyone know if you can build immunity/tolerance to this virus? Like viruses that cause the common cold there are many different strains of norovirus, which makes it difficult for a person’s body to develop long-lasting immunity. Therefore, norovirus illness can recur throughout a person’s lifetime. The best defense is avoiding people with an active infection and strict hand hygiene. aquilegia Posted June 9, 2010 #30 Share Posted June 9, 2010 I also disagree. A ward of our local hospital is closed to visitors at the moment due to norovirus. It breaks out anywhere.
