NJ Cruiserman Posted June 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2010 We are interested in booking a Terrace Suite on the Whisper. if you have sailed in these suites please comment on the room privacy issues. Is there a need to keep the room curtains closed? How is privacy maintained?
Emtbsam Posted June 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 19, 2010 We had a Terrace Suite on the Shadow for a 26 day cruise and only closed our curtains during the day when workmen were painting outside. Our neighbors did use their chairs on the terrace frequently, but they were respectful of our space.
Mrterryl Posted June 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2010 We had a terrace suite on the Whisper. Passengers would walk by the glass doors on the terrace at different times. We had to keep the curtains closed for the entire cruise. Never again will I book yhis type of cabin!!!!!!!!
meow! Posted June 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted June 19, 2010 The terrace suites offer one long common balcony without partitions, so in a sense you get a wider view of the outside than even the verandah suites. Also, you can open the sliding door, to get fresh air, hear the waves below and smell the sea water. You lose some privacy, and there is no chair on it. In the past, you get it for the price of a vista, which has only an unopenable window. In those days, the shared balcony vistas were the first to be taken up. Therefore from 2008, Silversea increased its fare. At present, fare ratios of vista:terrace:verandah are 0.8 : 0.88 : 1.0 Hope this helps.

On the Shadow, it is not a sliding glass door, but a regular door with hinges. The area of total glass including the door and side lights is slightly less than the Veranda Suites, not a big deal in my book. Unless you're going to be parading around in your cabin in the "all together", you shouldn't find the occasional passer-by a problem. Just my opinion.
