Partially obstructed forward and aft by the humps but pretty good. Balcony Size? Normal Was wind a problem? - No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - NA Any specific problems with this cabin? -The divider to the balcony to the right is smaller due to a part of the ship structure. There is a gap all the way around making privacy impossible. Also we had a smoker as a neighbor on that balcony so the gap just increased the smoke infiltration. Any other comments? - RCI allows smoking of the balconies. With a gap in the divider aft plus the natural circulation of the wind and air currents with ship movement, the smokers we had forward resulted in significant smoke infiltration to our balcony being carried on the breeze. If smokers as neighbors is an issue, I would find a different balcony or as we are,a different cruise line. __________________

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - gigantic balcony with 2 chairs, small low drinks table, and 2 lounge chairs, enough space for an army :D Was wind a problem? - not while we were out on the balcony, but to be honest there must be some wind (maybe only late at night??) because over the course of our 11 night cruise 2 cigarette butts managed to find their way onto our balcony. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - no Any specific problems with this cabin? no Any other comments? Our cabin was located near a service door but we never heard any noise or even observed any staff using it. We liked the spacious hallway that all the aft cabins are located in. The only thing we disliked is that there were smokers in the two cabins below us on Deck 6. Smokers' cough is kinda gross to overhear and cigarette smoke is not what we love smelling while trying to enjoy our balcony.

I did struggle a bit with the lack of places to keep toiletries in the shower...I would recommend taking bottles or even a little corner shelf with suction cups. This was our first "real" RCCL suite, and we absolutely loved it! My husband is resigned to the fact that it would be hard to go back to a JS after being spoiled by this incredible cabin! (With comments on problems) –Located at the very aft on the stern of the ship, it is a very quiet location with no hallway traffic. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Aft stern balconies give 180 degree panoramic views but are considered an obstructive view on the voyager and freedom class ships because of the superstructure on the rear of the ship. The higher the deck, the less obstructive. This deck 7 corner aft has a 6 foot side porthole that makes the covered balcony feel more open and also affords the only straight down aft water view on these classes of ships. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Deck 7 corner aft balconies are HUGE with 2 chaise lounges in addition to the standard 2 chairs and small table. Was wind a problem? - No. Aft balconies are more sheltered from wind. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - We have not had a soot problem on the Navigator. Any specific problems with this cabin? - Aft balconies are HAUNTED  so people should avoid booking them (save them for us instead :p). Any other comments? - The cabin is a standard E1 (loveseat vs. sofa you would get in a D1). Some people say there is more motion being aft but we did not notice this. Some people don't like the infrastructure at the back of the ship. The balcony is not stepped but completely covered by deck 8 above. This keeps it dry in the event of rain but does limit the amout of sun it receives. There is some light pollution and sometimes noise from crew deck 5. It is a LONG walk to the elevators (which entitles you to TWO desserts!;):D). LOVE IT!!!! We just had 7388 on the Navigator, corner aft other side! LOVE the picture with the ghosts! HAHAHA! my husband and I got a kick out of this! We are so excited we have the same balcony on the Adventure 3/3/2013!!!! YAY!!! :D

Any specific problems with this cabin? - At the time of sailing (September of '10) I actually found infant cockroaches running in and out of the drawers of the vanity. This problem has most likely been fixed by now, but I was so shocked at the time that I made an immediate complaint, and had to watch conditions in my house for a couple of months afterward - all it takes is one or two of those things brought home in a bag to infest an entire house. (This incident REALLY upset me, a lot.) Any other comments? - I probably wouldn't rebook this one, but then I'm liable to not rebook Monarch altogether (mainly because of the above incident).
