tillydog Posted August 26, 2012 #128 Share Posted August 26, 2012 Ship - Rhapsody of the Seas Deck - 2 Stateroom # - 2050 Stateroom Category – I Oceanview Starboard or Port Side - Starboard Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – A few times we heard other passengers from some of the other cabins running up and down the corridor late at night but it didnt really bother us as we just fell asleep again. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – N/A Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - N/A Was wind a problem? - N/A unless hubby ate eggs for breakfast!! If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? - The mattress that was on the bed that made up his side of the bed had given up the ghost and was lumpy and could feel the springs thru it. We did go and ask at the Purser's Desk if there was something they could organise as it was keeping hubby awake the first night. So the next day the cabin steward came and turned the mattress over. It did improve things a bit but it could've done with having a replacement mattress. Any other comments? - All in all, a pretty good cabin. Good location, wasnt quite mid-ship but close enough. Good location for those who suffer from motion sickness.
Gorki1951 Posted August 26, 2012 #129 Share Posted August 26, 2012 Ship – Serenade of the Seas Deck - 10 Stateroom # - 1048 Stateroom Category – GS Starboard or Port Side - Port Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Absolutely no noise. Some cabin review lists caution that there may be some noise from the pool deck above but inside the room we did not experience any noise at any time of the day. On the balcony you could hear the noise from above but it was not extremely loud, probably due to the overhang above. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Great views and great place to relax. The overhang provides shade except for early morning and late afternoon, if the sun is on the port side. If you want to be in the sun you will have to use another area. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Looks to be comparable with other cabins in this class. Was wind a problem? – No, but we did not leave items out on the balcony. If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? – N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? – We found no problems at all with this cabin and would gladly choose it again on a future cruise. Any other comments? – This was a fantastic room with more space than really needed for two people unless you spend your whole time at sea in the cabin. On our cruise we felt no movement and actually had to look out to see if we were moving or not. At sea, again no movement and no noise. There is abundant storage space and the bathroom is spacious. It was close to the concierge lounge, upper centrum view, elevators and one deck under the windjammer for a quick snack or bite to eat.
Gorki1951 Posted August 26, 2012 #130 Share Posted August 26, 2012 Ship – Splendour of the Seas 4 August 2012 Deck - 8 Stateroom # - 8068 Stateroom Category – JS Starboard or Port Side - Port Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes, no noise at any time that we noticed. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No obstructions and great view. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? – Normal for this class Was wind a problem? - No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? – N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? – No problems at all. A little bit of a walk to center of the ship to access stairs or elevators. For some the fact that there is only one access option for stairs, in an emergency, might be concerning. Any other comments? - You are aware of ship movement but it is very slight and only adds to the cruise. In fact we kind of liked it compared to the no sense of movement at all on a previous cruise. Access to Spa and Fitness center as well as the Solarium is one deck up. We had our teenage grandson with us and still found that the room was large enough that we were not falling over each other. We would gladly use this cabin again but as a personal choice we would like to be more forward. We never experienced any overcrowding in any area. The windjammer was full on some occasions but we still quickly found a table with only a minute or two wait. This should be expected on port mornings where everyone tries to eat just before leaving the ship. On our cruise we had a wonderful even number of Italians, Spaniards, English and Americans. Plenty of opportunities to meet and interface with a varied crowd.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – LOVED the balcony! The angle of the end of the "hump" created a "wind-block" that came in handy when we sat out there to read a book. Also, we appreciated the third chair for our daughter. Plenty of room for all of us! :D Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - One side seemed a little wider. Was wind a problem? - No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Any specific problems with this cabin? - No problems at all. Any other comments? -This was our first hump cabin and we really loved the location. That end of the hallway has about 3 feet of "extra wall" that sticks out. It was perfect for our suitcases on the last night.

(With comments on problems) – No Could hear the bands playing on the prominade. Would really hated to have a room in the middle directly over the bands. Also could hear everything from next door in our connecting room. But it wasn't a problem because we had both connecting rooms. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Was wind a problem? - If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Any specific problems with this cabin? - No it seemed to be quite spacious. If we ever book a PR again, we would get one on deck 8 so people in the cafe couldn't look right into our cabin. Other comments? Cabin attendant Bemo was excellent! He even brought an extra mattress to raise my husbands bed. They do have a new policy in place and scooters cannot be left in the hall. But no problem, he parked it in a storage room. If he wasn't on duty we just got it ourselves.

(With comments on problems) – Yes - Most of the time. This cabin is right across the hall from the staff stairs. It's also where the captain comes when he addresses everyone on the RP. It was nice to be in the hall and chat with the Captain a couple evenings. The only real noise was on the first and last day when lots of cabin attendants were using the stairs. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No Balcony View - No Obstructions ... wonderful view (but we were in the Southern Caribbean, so there aren't many "bad" views there) Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal balcony Was wind a problem? - Not at all If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - n/a Any specific problems with this cabin? - None that I can think of. It was nice, the couch was small ish (typical E cabin). The bed was on the left when walking in the room, I'm used to the other direction but we made do. Other comments? Seas were either rough or ship not using stabilizers, could really feel in this cabin. While we enjoyed the larger balcony, would only stay in aft again if price is right. I can sit and read a book anywhere. Room standard. Didn't notice any wear. Clean. Balcony did have adequate drainage when it did rain, so no problem with puddles.
