Car rental pickup/return at Brooklyn pier or nearby

We are flying out of JFK for a QM2 westbound Southampton to NY. If we get a rental car and drive to the airport we can return the car there. Are there car rental companies at the Brooklyn pier on return? If not, are they close by? We want to compare the cost of driving (8 hour trip) vs flying.

Hi Marcys. I know of no car rental companies at the Red Hook Terminal, but here is one nearby:

Avis

211 Atlantic Ave

(between Boerum Pl & Court St)

Brooklyn, NY 11201

(718) 522-7407

If you call them for information, you might want to inquire about transport from the pier.

Hope this helps.

Bon Voyage,

Salacia

Thanks, Salacia! Shouldn't we be able to get a taxi from the pier to the car rental on disembarkation?

You're welcome Marcys. Yes, you can get a cab at the terminal, but I thought maybe you'd want ask the rental place about rates and if they could either deliver the car to you at the terminal or pick you up and drive you to their office. (Who knows, might work.) Alternatively, you could arrange for a car service to take you to the rental place. BTW, I think there's a few threads relating to this issue if you look back a bit.

Regards,

Salacia

For the occasional ship that docks in Brooklyn it's not worth it to them to have an office there. And FYI, the Manhattan terminal also doesn't have rental car companies at the pier. :p
