ISTANBUL itineraries 2011 for Connie

I'm starting a new thread so this won't get lost. Thanks to those who pointed out that the gap in the Connie schedule for 2011 has been filled with round/trip Istanbul itineraries in September and October. The previously announced September 7 voyage will not end in Athens as originally scheduled, but Istanbul, to be followed by Sept 18, October 1, October 13 Turkey/Greece cruises. Then on October 25 Connie will do an 11 night trip from Istanbul to Barcelona prior to its T/A.

Am wondering what Istanbul port/airport are like. How far apart? How easy to embark in Istanbul? Is this the first time that X has used Istanbul as a base?

I suppose now I'll have to book since I've been complaining about the limited Turkey ports for Celebrity cruises! I hate it when they listen! :D

We wanted to see Istanbul. Our choice was a Equinox cruise or a 2 week land tour. The land tour was chosen. Istanbul is great. Ephesus is crowded, but worth seeing. Most cruise ships don't go much further than those ports. WE saw a lot more of the country...small towns(Assos was exquisite small fishing village), fantastic ruins (best was Aspendos and Perge in Antalya). Turkish nightlife is fun. If you cruise, you get a small taste of Turkey. After that, you'll want more. It's that interesting and the price is good. Turkey is still inexpensive.
