alr_2009 Posted July 13, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2010 Hi-I have been looking for months now and am almost out of places to look. I have been looking everywhere online to find a decent length (7-12 days) cruise to Hawaii without paying $4,000 starting price. Does anyone have any good websites that have helped you in the past. Thanks.
vbmom87 Posted July 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2010 Hi-I have been looking for months now and am almost out of places to look. I have been looking everywhere online to find a decent length (7-12 days) cruise to Hawaii without paying $4,000 starting price. Does anyone have any good websites that have helped you in the past. Thanks. The rules of Cruise Critic do not allow posters to mention the names of travel agencies of any kind on this forum. I have no idea what kind of stateroom you are looking at or how many people, but Holland America has some inside cabins starting at $1199 per person on the Oct. 2 sailing. You could get it for less through an online discounter if you wanted to go that route. http://www.hollandamerica.com/find-cruise-vacation/FindCruises.action?destCode=H&durationCode=3&portCode=&dateCode=&shipCodeSearch= Have you considered the NCL POA. It is round trip Honolulu. Their insides begin at $999 (less with an online discounter) depending on the date. NCL does offer sales at times. I hope this helps. If you are looking at balconies or suites, you can expect to pay more. I went on the POA in May and really liked it. It is a port intensive cruise and we got to see so much of the islands. We didn't do much on the ship. Spending all that money to fly there, I wanted to see the islands, and we did. It was a great vacation.

Thanks. Not sure if you are talking about the total cost of air fares and cruise ? We have booked a cruise on CCL Spirit next April and the cost for a balcony ( 7A) was just over $3000.00 . However the added air fares can make a trip of this kind very costly. Fortunately we live near Vancouver so are only looking at airfare one way to Honolulu. Good luck and if you happen to book this cruise, be sure to join the CC roll call for that cruise, and maybe we will get too meet ! PS...I have booked directly with Personal Vacation Planners through Carnival and they are very good , as well as other advertised cruise specialist sites...I have found they tend to be very similiar in cost. Thanks. I just priced out a 12 night cruise on RCCL in Sept 2011 and with taxes it was abour $1150 a person for an inside cabin. Try going to your favorite online mega travel agency and just play around with it. Or go to the cruise line website directly. You should be able to get something within your budget. Bucky3 Posted July 15, 2010 #6 Share Posted July 15, 2010 We have taken Carnival Spirit from Vancouver to Honolulu and stayed aboard for the cruise to Ensenada. This cruise is done in the fall, and we loved it. Of course, you need to be able to take the time (each cruise was 12 days), but what a bargain to get all those sea days and visiting all the Hawaiian Islands twice. You could take just one and fly one way. In the Spring these cruises are offered in reverse. We found these cruises to be real bargains.
griffy116 Posted July 16, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 16, 2010 We did the 12 day RCCL. We flew from Atlanta to Honolulu, stayed overnight, did Pearl Harbor tour and the bus (arranged by RCC) took us and our luggage straight to the ship. We had balcony cabins and while I can't remember the exact cost of the CRUISE, I know that we didn't pay anywhere near $4,000 per person. Airfare and hotel jacked it up quite a bit because you fly Atlanta to Honolulu then San Diego to Atlanta (Jones Act).
vbmom87 Posted July 16, 2010 #8 Share Posted July 16, 2010 OP, where are you? Just wondering if anyone's suggestions were of help to you. Please get back and let us know.
lovedeals Posted July 17, 2010 #9 Share Posted July 17, 2010 We are doing the Carnival cruise from Ensenada to Honolulu next April. The obstructed balcony right now is 1229 per person on the early saver. For 12 days that is a great fare. Just booked our air from Syracuse, NY to SanDiego, Ca and home from Honolulu to Syracuse, NY for 537 per person. Thought we got a tremendous deal. actresslp Posted July 21, 2010 #11 Share Posted July 21, 2010 We're doing the Carnival Spirit out of Ensenada next April (2011) and we're paying less than $2000 for my husband and I in a 4K category room (obstructive view with french doors). It's only $899/person as of yesterday on their website. I'm not sure why you can't find anything lower than $4K unless you're wanting a suite. Jeano222 Posted July 21, 2010 #13 Share Posted July 21, 2010 You can also do 14-15 night cruise from L.A or San Diego and not have to get air to/from Hawaii at all. We are doing 14 night on Sapphire Princess April 2012 and it costs 1600.00 pp for inside cabin. We don't mind inside cabins on the 14 or 15 night because 10 of the nights are at sea and there is nothing to see except ocean. Once in the islands you rarely go to your cabin as you are busy doing stuff. Booking a balcony would cost 1000.00 more per person which would put the cruise out of our price range. OP appears to be from Juneau, Alaska so a Vancouver sailing might be a better option for her. However, we have not heard back from her. She posted her question and has not given us any further information.

salty dingo Posted July 25, 2010 #16 Share Posted July 25, 2010 It's a matter of timing. We have a POA cruise coming up next month and booked it almost 2 years out. At the time the fares were about what the going rate has been lately. But during that time the price fell substantially and we were able to get quite a fare reduction. Then as the ship filled up, fares went way back up. I don't know if that is typical but it was the case with our booking. If someone can book way out like that and watch the fares, or if they can grab a sale fare close to the sail date, they can probably do pretty well on a Hawaii cruise fare.
