Rare HeinBloed Posted March 15, 2011 #26 Share Posted March 15, 2011 HeinBloed, If we are booking train tickets from Warnemunde to Berlin on the bahn website there are several different station names with Warnemunde in the name (Warnemunde Strand, Warnemunde Wherft, etc.), which is the station that is closest to the cruise ships? Thanks for your help, Dustin Just do not touch... Unchanged "Warnemünde" without any annexes... Regards HeinBloed

Travelanni Posted March 15, 2011 #28 Share Posted March 15, 2011 Thank you so much! Is it a bad thing to go by regional train? I assume they are slower and make many more stops than the ICE train. Regards, Linda The RE takes only 18mins longer than the ICE because although the ICE is a high speed train parts of the line have not yet been upgraded for high speeds. It is a work in progress. The REs are very modern, double deck trains, air conditioned, spacious and extremely comfortable. From the upper deck you get a much better view of the countryside too. Happy cruising :) Anni
scubasteve00 Posted March 29, 2011 #29 Share Posted March 29, 2011 So tomorrow is the day that we can book train tickets to Berlin (92 day window), but today I see there is now a warning on the trip into Berlin: **RE 4359: Fürstenberg(Havel) - Gransee: Construction work. Train is cancelled between Fürstenberg(Havel) and Gransee. Substitute bus. Check itinerary before departure. The train is cancelled between Fürstenberg(Havel) and Gransee. A substitute bus is running. Please check your itinerary again shortly before departure. ** It appears that we would just need to get on a bus for a short period and then get back on a train to continue to Berlin? Should this be concerning to us? Would this be easy to figure out? Thanks for the help!

The 92 days is only important if you want to take the ICE InterCity Express Long-Distance Highspeed Train and you want to get high-discounted ticket. If you want to go by RE Regional Express train you can buy at any time. Regards HeinBloed

Rare HeinBloed Posted March 29, 2011 #32 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Wanted to go June 29th, 2011 (Celebrity Constellation) Yes - obviously it's clear that there will be rail construction works and the train service will be suspended between the two stations. But it's not decided yet how the schedule will be adjusted. PERSONAL OPINION: The train will start earlier in Rostock and will have a direct connection to a bus to Gransee and from Gransee the train will continue as scheduled. But this will be decided closer to June 29. I would check again End of May for final schedule. That is what is published so far. Raychsr Posted April 26, 2011 #33 Share Posted April 26, 2011 Linda, appears we are on the same cruise and also considering the train. Just 2 of us. We have a rental car reserved. Have you bought train tickets yet or would you be interested in sharing the car? Saw a recommendation to park away from the city?

Hello Raychsr, We booked the Berlin excursion from Warnemunde through SPB Tours. We received a discount because we also had booked St. Petersburg through them. I think our final price was 85 Euros. I will be the first to admit it is not to exciting with very little chatter but there may be some information that is useful to you. Some of us have joined together for several private excursions that you might be interested in. Just head over to the NCL Roll Call board and look for the June 4 sailing of the Sun. She is a wonderful ship -- did her two years ago for South America.
Raychsr Posted April 28, 2011 #38 Share Posted April 28, 2011 Didn't even know that existed. Great info. Thanks for that. We are new to this site, although I'm not new to cruising, so very, very helpful. See you over there. Carol & Steve.
