paul929207 Posted July 16, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2010 How will who know? The cruise line will know because you had contact with them to make the pre-payment. If you paid for 4 people and only have 2 in your cabin, you should have told them who else you were paying for.
uppitycats Posted July 16, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 16, 2010 hi all, could someone please tell me how do they know if youve prepaid the gratitudes?? i know its along way off our cruise but i havent found anyone saying anything about this only some pay before hand one less thing to worry about, while others pay/tip as they go along.? ive paid for ours, their are 4 of us going and i paid on my card will they know about the others as they are in different room? sorry for lots of questions:( If you pre-paid your gratuities (not gratitudes!), it will appear on your account, and you should see an entry on your receipt. If you paid for someone else's, you need to make sure that your bill indicates that. You might have your travel agent check, or you can call the cruise line. The amount you paid should show up on their billing, as it should on yours. If you're wanting to know if the staff knows -- they will be notified that you've pre-paid (or conversely, notified who has NOT prepaid). It's not likely that you'll notice any increase or reduction in service -- they do their job to the best of their ability, regardless of whether you've paid or not (it IS their job, after all!). smeyer418 Posted July 16, 2010 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2010 you can always check at the front desk aboard the ship to see what their records show. All have a way of showing whether its been prepaid or not...

cb at sea Posted July 16, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 16, 2010 The service staff doesn't receive the tips until the end of the cruise, whether you pay in advance, put it on your ship's account, or hand them cash at the end of the cruise. You will get envelopes in your cabin on the last night. If you're paying cash, you put the cash in the envelope and give it to your staff. If you prepaid, there will be vouchers that you can give them, if you want to have something to hand them. If you prepaid, you don't NEED to hand them out, but you can!
