Our cruise has stops at Dubrovnik, Croatia and Monte Carlo, Monaco. Where the ships docks, can you just walk right into these towns, or do you have to take a train or cab into them like Rome and Florence? What i mean is.....our ship docks in Civitavecchia and we have to get a way into Rome and the same thing for Florence....ship docks in Livorno and you have to find a way into Florence. I was just hoping at a couple of our stops, like Croatia and Monaco....we might be able to just get off ship and there we are. Thanks! :)

Some ships dock at Gruz pier, a 10min ride to Old town,,,and some stay offshore near Old town and must take launch....will have to ask your cruiseline for its options....it can be crowded with tourists when big ships dock, so be prepared.....we were there last week and nice early in am or late in pm...easy to explore on own and not have to follow the leader with a large tour group....;)

Only the smaller cruise ships go directly to Monaco and unless they're really small they have to use tenders but you would be right in the town. We have always anchored in the Villefranche harbor and tendered ashore, then it's a short bus or train ride to Monaco. Beautiful but SO densely crowded--never seen anything like it--houses and apartments right on top of each other!

Many ships dock in Monaco whrere you can walk into town. If not you take a tender and you can walk from the drop off point. It's very easy to get around

In Dubrovnik you just take a shuttle into the downtown area.

Both are wonderful ports.

thanks everybody! I was hoping there might be a couple of stops on our cruise where we could just get off the ship and not have to get a train or shuttle to get there. Sounds like these 2 ports will be like that. :)
