Cristallo Posted July 21, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2010 I'm sailing with CCL and I'm a tad concerned about their elegant night (I'm not a dress kinda dame). So I was wondering what everyone thought about either nice dress pants and blouse (my normal dressy outfit) or a tunic? I have two. This is tunic one. http://www.lanebryant.com/nomadic-smocked-is-it-tunic/p63576/index.pro This is the second one. Mine is in a turquoise http://www.lanebryant.com/twist-neck-is-it-top/p59457/index.pro

cb at sea Posted July 21, 2010 #4 Share Posted July 21, 2010 I'd go turquoise, too...on Carnival, you'll be just fine without going the "dress" route!

cruisingagaininnov2008 Posted July 22, 2010 #7 Share Posted July 22, 2010 I vote for the turquoise one, too. The first top looks a bit too casual.

Mine is in a turquoise http://www.lanebryant.com/twist-neck-is-it-top/p59457/index.pro Hi there, I understand your concerns and am not a formal dresser at all. I usually overshoot or undershoot the game. On my last cruise in February, I totally switched gears and went with a very dressy tunic (sleeveless) that was bejeweled and paired it with slacks and a pashmina/shawl and nice strappy heels. It was classic and I was actually hitting the mark that time. Go for comfort and style. You will not only feel good, but you'll be comfortable too. (I get so tired of being girdled, Spanxed, zipped, stuffed, sometimes ending up with elastic bruises  and unable to breath during a 2 hour meal that I've started wearing what's comfortable but classy instead. Makes me a MUCH happier person to be around and everyone has a good time. :D)
cooncat_mom Posted July 25, 2010 #9 Share Posted July 25, 2010 I am a round little woman and love CCL for the fact that they have "Cruise Elegant Night" instead of Formal Night! Your turquoise blouse with some bling and some dressy pants will be fine. You'll see a spectrum of people from the prom-dress to the black pants and glittery shirt with some Rap styles thrown in. Fun to see and comfortable for the people who don't/can't spend the $$ for formal wear!
