gacomeau Posted July 26, 2010 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2010 Has anyone ever heard of or used these guys? I found them through a google search. They gave an an excellent quote but I'm reluctant to use them without getting some feedback about their service. Their website is www.interairportcars.com/ Thanks. Rare Keith1010 Posted July 31, 2010 #2 Share Posted July 31, 2010 I haven't used them. I use the following service and have been very pleased with the service. http://www.woodfordchauffeurcars.co.uk/ Keith
Francine Posted July 31, 2010 #3 Share Posted July 31, 2010 We used County Cars several years ago for the exact same route, based on a recommendation from an English couple we met on a cruise. This is their web site: http://www.countycarsdorset.co.uk/index.php . We were very pleased. Fran
lord of the seas Posted August 1, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 1, 2010 They are cheap, but looking at their web site, they have not updated the traffic info since 26th Feb 2009. It really does depend on what your expectations are and what type of service you are used to and if price is a big concern. You will always get what you pay for. Rare John Bull Posted August 1, 2010 #5 Share Posted August 1, 2010 Their quoted rate (£70 plus waiting/parking/credit card charge) is about the same as taxi companies in or around Southampton, though not all charge those extras, as per interairport's terms. Here's a couple quite frequently recommended on this forum: http://www.westquaycars.co.uk/ http://www.smithsforairports.com/index.html http://www.a2btaxisfleet.com/ those based in London or near London's airports tend to be more expensive. handfordr Posted August 2, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 2, 2010 As ever you pay for what you get. Undoubtedly the best value for people who just want to get from A to B reliably and safelyis a company from around Southampton like those suggested by John Bull where costs are much lower than London. You'll end up paying 100 GBP or less for Heathrow - London and drivers are normally grateful for a 5% tip. At the other end of the market are limo services, people like Eddie Manning and Woodford which cost about double that, about 160-180 GBP . They're very smooth and professional with meticulously presented cars and uniformed drivers who have been trained to talk you up into an additional stop at Stonehenge or Winchester or such like and may help also you by advising an appropiate US style tip. Its also worth checking the addon's in the small print. Parking charges and waiting time penalties at airports and additional charges for paying by credit card, typically 4% are quite common.
