Typical cruise ship scams in the casino

The few times I have gambled on the ships,,,I have experienced several different "games" the dealers will run,,in order to keep the profit going for the cruise lines.

 

Roulette: My system in roulette is to play six inside numbers at 2 units each for 5 spins of the wheel total 60 units.. if no hit, I go sit at the bar and check out the sights for a few hours then try again. If the number hits I immediately play 10 units on each of the same numbers. If I get 2 wins in a row I am doing well and the system works. Total win over 350 units plus remainder of chips. Walk away and come back later.. Maybe.

 

I hit on a ship the first nite,,2 wins in a row,,,walked away with my profits. Left a few dollars for the dealers and was happy enough.

Next nite,,,I go back to the roulette and play my system,,,2 chips on each of six numbers,,,then if hit ,,,go for 10 chips immediately on same six numbers. One of my numbers immediately hits and I tried to get my chips down but the dealers saw my playing style and quickly spun the ball and said no more bets,,,it stopped my system cold..I couldnt get my chips down in time. Sly dealers...sly cruiseline.

 

Craps

I usually play pass line with max odds then place the 6 and 8 and maybe a come bet with odds if it goes that far. I have played for over 30 years in many casinos,,,Vegas ,,Atl City,,,cruise ships etc etc. THE DICE SOMETIMES HAVE A TENDENCY TO LAND on chips and the die may be half on half off a chip and the dealers usually go with the table and call out a number,,,,not so on the cruise lines,,,its always in the ships favor,,,thats bs,,,and I always walk away after that and try roulette again.

 

 

Anybody else have anything they would like to add regarding these crummy cruiseline tactics.

What the he!! are you talking about? Your roulette system sucks and you were sleeping if the dealer said NO MORE BETS.

 

What units were you betting? If you were playing 25 cents, I can see it. If your playing red, green, or black, I would have a talk with the dealer and pit boss.

 

As for craps, the shooter is in control and the number that is up on cocked dice is the number called.

 

The dealers at roulette and craps have nothing to do with your bet.

 

You need to relax and have fun. It's entertainment.:)

Never had any problems like these in any cruise casino. Dealers would rather you win than lose. winners (usually) tip more. The cruise casinos don't have to "scam" you,but they, like all casinos love to see players with a SYSTEM. NO system will overcome the house edge. Chill out.

LOL, the only people making money off of this are the casino and the people who write these books that they have a system....They don't need a scam, they will always win in the long run....

I think what he is saying is you have a very low chance of winning at this system. The odds of you hitting your six numbers twice in a row are very low, unless there was something you left out in your explaination I don't see an advantage here myself. Feel free to prove me wrong though as there might be something we are missing:)

What I was trying to say is that your playing $12. Why would you only play 6 numbers, when you could play 12 numbers and have a better chance of winning. If you would play 12 numbers for 5 spins, you spent the same amount of money, but you've doubled your chance of winning.

 

What ever floats your boat. Roulette is a marathon, not a sprint.

Anyone playing roulette, with it's 5.55% house advantage, needs to learn to play another game.

Eaxactly - the odds of hitting a number straight up are 35 to 1. Doesn't matter whether you have 6 chips on the table or 12. It's still 35 to 1.

 

If you placed a chip on every number (except zero and double zero if its that style) you would still eventually go broke (because the odds are against you). There is no system - its only luck - walk away when you are ahead - leave before you loose to much!

 

Funny story - my last cruise on the pearl - I was playing craps - and I was up $100 so I walked away. When I colored up I had 2 black chips and 2 singles. I felt silly about collecting the extra $2 at the cage - so I placed the $2 straight up on 7 at roulette. I hit the number! at walked away with the extra $70. Boy did I get dirty looks from all the people that had been playing! LOL

Funny story - my last cruise on the pearl - I was playing craps - and I was up $100 so I walked away. When I colored up I had 2 black chips and 2 singles. I felt silly about collecting the extra $2 at the cage - so I placed the $2 straight up on 7 at roulette. I hit the number! at walked away with the extra $70. Boy did I get dirty looks from all the people that had been playing! LOL

Pretty nice of them to let you play for less than the table minimum. Maybe they were giving you dirty looks for stiffing the dealer.

I have never seen that in any casino I have ever played in. They all use the "ice melt" system. Assume whatever the dice has landed on was a piece of ice, if the ice were to melt what number would face up, that is what they call. I am sure the others that eat sleep and breathe craps can comment more on this.

It happens quite often that a die will be leaning on a chip or against the wall. They will usually call it in a fair way.

 

If I ran the casino, I would make a rule that any time a die does not land flat on the table, that NO ROLL would be called.

Same reason you tip a waiteress or waiter. Because most of them make minimum wage or barely above. If you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to play. As for dealers being gone, and the computerized games replacing them, not going to happen. Go into any casino and see how much use these fake games get. Very little. Better yet check pokertek (maker of these machines) stock and see how it has dropped like a lead baloon.

Respectfully disagree about what the dealers are paid. I've got friends who are dealers and some made six digits a few years back - I know minimum wage isn't that good.

 

In a real casino the computerized games ARE taking over - look at the floor space given to slots as compared to table games.

 

On a ship most of the casino experience is social. Therefore the dealers on these ships need to realize that they contribute to the experience. Antagonistic, dead, agressive dealers can ruin a cruisers experience at the tables.

 

With regard to the stock prices - can't comment on that because I don't follow those but I do prefer live dealers to the pokerteck.

If your dealer friends were making six digits, it was mostly in tokes. According the the US Dept. of Labor, in 2007 the annual median "salary" for casino dealers was $14,786. The average hourly wage for Las Vegas dealers was $7.55. Dealers I talked to on my last 2 cruises told me their "salary" was $600 a month. I agree that more and more floor space is being given to slots, but live table games are here to stay. you contradict yourself in your two posts, in one you say you prefer live dealers, in the other you say "bring on BJ machines".

If you're SUCH good friends with them ask them how much the casino pays them and how much comes from tips. I highly doubt you became friends with them because you're a "george". Ask them about that term as well.

 

Dealers are paid minimum wage or close to that by the casino, the rest of that 6 digit income (you must know people that work at the Wynn in Las Vegas) is from the tips they receive from customers.

Because you admit you didn't. You walked with $202 from the craps table, remember?? Anyone that tips would have left at least the $2 if not more for the dealers.

 

Betting straight up on a number is not an even money bet it's a 35:1 bet where the table minimum of $5 would apply.
