Venice rain & flooding?

Will be in Venice Sept 12ish for about 5 days pre cruise.

Has anyone experienced flooding and is it recommended to take rubber boots, or how is it handled when there is flooding? Thanks

The alta aqua (flooding) doesn't usually happen in September, you should have fine weather We were there in November when you will almost certainly need your wellies. People who hadn't brought boots were using black bin bags over their shoes to walk about. St Marks Square usually has elevated wooden walkways for people to get around.

We were there in September where the waters had risen quite a bit. As Chris noted even then they used the elevated walkways at St Marks Square.

Aqua alta is occurring more frequently, but it's most prevalent in the winter months. The flooding obviously rises and falls with the tides, so if it were to happen while you're there, ask your hotel about the tide times and plan you're activities accordingly.

Venice frequently has water issues at high tide no matter what the month and then maybe not. Hence the elevated walkways at St Mark's Square. I would chance it and go wit the garbage bags as backup.

I read it floods more at times of Full Moon and secondly at New Moon. Full moon in September is September 23rd and new moon is September 8th. Looks like you are right in the middle.
