Venice rain & flooding?

The alta aqua (flooding) doesn't usually happen in September, you should have fine weather We were there in November when you will almost certainly need your wellies. People who hadn't brought boots were using black bin bags over their shoes to walk about. St Marks Square usually has elevated wooden walkways for people to get around.

Aqua alta is occurring more frequently, but it's most prevalent in the winter months. The flooding obviously rises and falls with the tides, so if it were to happen while you're there, ask your hotel about the tide times and plan you're activities accordingly.
