Villefranche Question

I was just wondering if anyone knows how easy it is to find the bus in this port. We are taking Celebrity not sure if that makes a difference :) TIA!

whilr the train is easier, just take the road up the hill to the highway

Where are you going? As Moyaroo said, the train is quicker and probably easier. They have the train times on display at the info desk inside the port building.

 

To get to the bus stop you need to climb a steepish hill directly behind the port building. At the top you come into a square and the bus stop is on the main road just to the left of the square. The port side of the road going towards Monaco and the other side for Nice.

This map shows the location of the port (Port de la Sante), the bus stops for going to Nice and Monaco (blue boxes on either side of the box marked "T" - bottom left of the map) and the train station (SNCF - top middle).

Where does one find the train to go to Monaco/MOntecarlo and Eze from Villefrenche? Is the bus a better option if you just want to go to Monaco?

My post above (#4) provides a link to a map, and I've also described in my post where the bus stops and train station are on the map.

 

The train doesn't go to Eze Village ... it goes to Eze bord du Mer; from there you would need to connect to bus #83 to go to Eze Village.

 

If just going to Monaco and back, the train will be faster and it's easier to walk to the train station than the bus stop in VF, but it costs more than the bus and doesn't run quite as frequently as the bus. This is the train schedule from May 25 through December 11. The first few pages are in the direction from Cannes towards Monaco, and further down are the schedules for Monaco towards Cannes.

 

You might find it helpful to have a guidebook with further info on using public transportation in this area ... I recommend Rick Steves' Provence and the French Riviera.

Thanks for your help, we really want to just see monte carlo and wander around villefrenche. We have an infant and were not sure which was better, the train or the bus. I guess I am confused bc the bus *marked by the T* on the map looks MUCH closer then the train that is SNCF. I was hoping someone could tell me in words how I would go to the bus or train. I am horrible at reading maps.

The bus stops for #100 are near the "T" in the park (green) area with the two boxes that say "bus" on either side of it, not near the "T" at the port. It's an uphill walk, whereas the walk to the train station is flat (follow the street along the shore), and then up a set of stairs to the station.
