lizaj1 Posted August 7, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2010 If you want to use the Solarium everyday can you pay prior to embarking or do you have to take your chances when you get on board?
Sue L Posted August 7, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2010 You don't have to pay to use the solarium, you just go in and find a chair.
lizaj1 Posted August 7, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted August 7, 2010 That's great. On Princess you have to pay for access and most of the chairs are reserved for the entire cruise.
MrsPete Posted August 8, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2010 That's great. On Princess you have to pay for access and most of the chairs are reserved for the entire cruise. Not so on Royal Caribbean. The Solarium is great: soft, cushy chairs. It's fairly easy to find one chair by itself, and they're about half in the sun, half in the shade. There's a bar, and they put out fruit in the mornings. BND Posted August 8, 2010 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2010 It does get busy in the early afternoon. We found if we went early or later, we had no trouble finding seats. Otherwise, if the weather is so-so, it's never a problem.

Host Kewlguy Posted August 8, 2010 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2010 The biggest problem with the solarium is the chair hogs who reserve their seats early in the morning, and leave their belongings behind as they come and go all day long.

No, the problem wasn't gone, but the chair hogs were fewer in number. I'm not sure what made the difference, but I was happy about it!
cb at sea Posted August 8, 2010 #9 Share Posted August 8, 2010 As long as you're 16 or over, just go on in! It's the Adult pool area...no charge.
John Henry on CC Posted August 8, 2010 #10 Share Posted August 8, 2010 That's great. On Princess you have to pay for access and most of the chairs are reserved for the entire cruise. The Solarium is not the same as the Sanctuary. It's more like the regular adult pool on the aft of the ship.
Pumbaamd Posted August 8, 2010 #11 Share Posted August 8, 2010 We've really enjoyed the Solarium pool area on Grandeur and Enchantment, as well as Brilliance and Jewel. Please remember, the Radiance class and Vision class Solariums are indoor areas, with the capability to open up the roof and sides in warmer weather. Voyager class and above are all outdoor areas. In addition to the Solarium bar, there is also a lunch area with burgers, dogs, fries. Enjoy your cruise! Rick and Deirdra
