There is a study in the current issue of PC magazine which compares the major browsers and draws the conclusion that Chrome is currently the most efficient with Firefox next and IE a distant third ( as far as Windows users are concerned.). Supposedly a new release of Firefox is in Beta now and then it will be a toss-up between Chrome and Firefox.

I use Chrome now. For a long time I used Firefox, but it became increasingly slow at starting up and vision playback on BBC iPlayer on demand video catchup would freeze momentarily every so often. Chrome doesn't have these problems and the AdBlock add-on works well too. However, if CC is slow I'm not sure Chrome will speed things up noticeably. I just find it a better browser overall.
