Rhitson88 Posted August 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2010 So coincidental as I posting a thread the other day asking to be upgraded for a fee on our upcoming August 29th cruise on Emerald Princess. I got an upgrade for FREE from an inside to an oceanview!!! I am stoked!! :D :D :D :D. Its P233. Doesn't accomodate a 3rd or 4th person as we kinda need it too for our 3 yr old but guess she will be sleeping with us in our bed lol. No biggy. Rhitson88 Posted August 19, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Congrats. If there are 3 in your party how did you end up in a double? You may have a rollaway. Well, my fiancee's father is coming as well but didn't have anyone else with him as him and his wife have divorced. Well I jumped on that opportunity and sold him on the fact he will have to pay double occupancy anyways so why not put his granddaughter under his room and she will just sleep with us. I told Princess this is how we were doing it and to put us in a 3rd or 4th person room so she can sleep with us every night. Basically tried to save money and save him from paying for 2 when he only had 1. Do you guys think he go upgraded too? Havent had an opportunity to talk to him yet because he is at work. We did book it together. Just wondering.
Rhitson88 Posted August 19, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted August 19, 2010 And Colo, whats a "rollaway" exactly? Not to familiar.
Colo Cruiser Posted August 19, 2010 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Its a folding cot, but since you said she is booked in another cabin that makes sense. I don't think it would be a big deal for her to be in with you guys. They won't do a rollaway since shes booked in another cabin. :)
snrlnd Posted August 19, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 19, 2010 A rollaway bed (portable bed that folds up).
Rhitson88 Posted August 19, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Oh yeah. Yeah guys he got upgraded. Whats his upgrade though? Moving from a freaking inside to a balcony on the Aloha!! Really? How did he get so lucky?!?! A708!

So no biggy. My day just got soooo much better.

Rhitson88 Posted August 19, 2010 Author #11 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Both are quite the upgrades!! Wow!!! Enjoy! How could you not? :D I know right? I have never gotten an upgrade before and this just kinda is like wow. I keep checking to make sure I am not missing anything but nope. It is legit. Checked his Balcony upgrade and our Oceanview. Very nice. And I was expecting a call where they would offer it for a reduced price and give me the whole 48 hour window to decide. But noep. Just checked my email and there it was. *Upgrade Notice*. Moment I saw it my heart just started racing. Didn't wanna get over excited just for a deck change. But it was MUCH more. I wonder how they pick who get s an upgrade because the cruise is in August but we didn't book until probably middle of July. But its whatever. Take it. Definitely would have been happy either way but now I am much more happy.

DrivesLikeMario Posted August 19, 2010 #16 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Congrats on the upgrade! It's a good location and so convenient to the atrium. It'll be great to have a window vs. no window. :)

Toto2Kansas Posted August 19, 2010 #18 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Congrats on the upgrades. Just an idea. You can always take a blow up inflatable air mattress (especially for a small child) with you since I don't think they will provide a roll away either in a double. The room steward will supply you with sheets and pillows and you can just slide it under the bed when not in use during the day. Enjoy!

It'll be great to have a window vs. no window. :) The atrium and more importantly the International cafe lol. I did notice the new location is under the casino. Anyone think that will be a probably or not much because it dies down towards middle of night? If you find out(how the UG ferry works) let me know.:D Oh I definitely will. Kinda wierd how we got upgraded and to such great rooms. Upgrading is such a mystery. I think it is definitely more than just random. They have to do it for certain reasons for certain people. Although we never complained or gave them a reason too. And its my fiancee and her dads first time on Princess, so no previous loyalty to reward. Nice to hear the upgrade fairy is alive and well. Enjoy your cruise! Very much alive and very well. 2 great upgrades for nothing.

We considered that but we aren't big people at all(me and my fiance) so to go through the trouble of blowing it up everyday and then deflating it again would just be a hassle we think. If we had no other choice then of course but she fits perfectly between the 2 of us just fine with her 35 lb slanky self lol. We also have the same size bed here at the house so we imagine it would work the same way. Just a thought, do you guys think if I called Princess they would be able to move me to a 3rd or 4th person oceanview considering thats what I had before if one is open? Or do you think that may ruin my chances and they may want to move us back and I should just stick with my plan. Just let me know. Thanks.
Toto2Kansas Posted August 19, 2010 #22 Share Posted August 19, 2010 You don't have to deflate it each evening, as I think I stated, you can just slip it under the bed during the day, they aren't very large. ;) As for getting moved to a different cabin that will accomodate a third, that might be possible if there are any left in the category you were upgraded to. It's worth a try to call Princess or your TA to have them check and see if they will move you.

Thats the one we got is the queen sized one for guests. Either way my fiance told me she doesn't really like the idea of her sleeping on a bed attached to the wall due to the fact that in the middle of the night our daughter will sometimes get up to use the restroom and if she has to climb down a ladder or some sort then it could be VERY dangerous. Shes only 3 so it could be risky in the dark so I understand where shes coming from so that fixes that problem. Thanks Toto. Another thing. Is it possible to be upgraded again to something better? I am extremely jealous my Father in law was upgraded to a balcony lol. Just wondering as I am definitely very happy with what I already received. No. Usually once upgraded you don't receive another, but it can happen occasionally. Good Luck! Keep one thing in mind. The balcony cabin and the ocean view will be pretty much the same design and square footage. If you have a three year old with you, it is actually safer to be in an inside or outside stateroom then it is a balcony cabin. ;)

She will not even be allowed on the balcony unless we are there with her. And she will be staying with us rather than the balcony. Unless he would be willing to switch which I doubt will happen lol. But I will keep my head up for another one but either way. Happy with what I got.
