elite numbers predictions

Our next cruise will be our first as elite (well, me anyway!!!). I know that the elite event from 4 to 6 varies in location according to the number of elites on board. So I was wondering if you would hazard a guess as to numbers (low? high?) and location for the following:

11 night Caribbean from Baltimore in Oct. (Mercury)

7 night W. Carib. from Miami in late Nov. (Eclipse)

10 night Carib. in March (Equinox)

I will find it one way or another :), but was just curious. Thanks.

Just curious, what difference does it make? I don't think the cruise line will give out that information ahead of time.

What really makes the difference I have found is how many Elites come in for the Happy Hour and stay for the entire 2 hour set. On Infinity last April, Michael's Club was used and this venue did not begin to accomodate those who were wanting a pre-dinner cocktail. At one point, guests were hauling in their own chairs from other rooms . We were not interested in standing room only, so left, as did many others we talked with later.

The same thing happened on Summit in May. No one brought in chairs but some left because they could not be accomodated. The hostess said only Miami could switch the venue and they had chosen to not have it moved.

I think if they cannot accommodate you, they should allow you to take your drink to another venue. I know that they do not want to do this, and drinks cannot leave Michael's, but if you can't sit down, they have a problem.

There is no other "room" near Michael's, only the casino and theater are nearby... Since theater chairs are somewhat fixed, did these guests bring the stools from the casino?

Being a retired engineer, here are the stats as I saw them

Solstice First winter in Carrib Jan 2009 At least 400 elites Drinks in Sky Lounge

Equinox holyland cruise prior to first TA from Europe to Florida 350 elites Drinks in Sky Lounge

Infinity SA/Antarctic Cruise 40 elites max Drinks in Michaels Club.

Come to your own conclusions. Happy thinking

Thanks for that info .... quite a difference in the numbers! I was just wondering what to expect in the experience...... intimate vs. large scale setting, non-smoking vs. limited smoking area.

Andy C .... wow ..... no reason to be rude.

On Solstice they had the Elite function in the Sky Lounge. I didn't see anybody over on the Port side smoking. They closed the room for the event participants only.

On Eclipse it was held in one side of the Sky lounge, even though the maximum numbers there only ever seemed to be about 50, some days much less. The rest of the lounge remained open for everyone although was also never very busy.

I thought it was really nice to hold it up there so we could all appreciate the views from the windows. I never once smelt any smoke from the other side of the room.

just how long it will be before the cruiseline has to discontinue the 'free' drinks for the Elite pax if they also give them out to the suite pax (who aren't Elite)...plus those cruising in the same cabin and allow RCCL Diamonds to become Elites onboard Celebrity also & invited to join in the 'free' drinks scenario..

As there are more & more becoming Elites (or Ds on RCCL ships) there will be less room to accommodate them as is already showing up in the Michaels Club...Breakfast cld then become noiser & busier also..

On RCCL they had to disallow entry into the Conceirge Club to anyone other than D+ (although they may also eventually go the way of the 'Dodo') & suite guests - it was becoming a virtual 'zoo' at the Happy Hours time..Lots of very unhappy cruisers suddenly uninvited..

Cld happen on Celebrity! Not a successful policy for RCL..IMO anyway.
