Able Seaman H Posted September 22, 2010 #33 Share Posted September 22, 2010 I got an email from Seabourn UK this week telling me they were having a special 1 week sale. So I called them up, waited a while and eventually spoke to someone. Gave my dates waited excitedly and was given my special prices. £200 more expensive per person than the interweb last time I looked. £500 more than the Travel agent :)

Notts Outlaw Posted July 24, 2014 #35 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Following previous posts I have to report that the problems in actually getting anyone at the Seabourn UK Office to sort out any problems still exists. I found out three days ago that we had been "BUMPED" out of our reserved suite for our forthcoming cruise on Seabourn Odessey in August. I am still waiting for someone in their UK Office to phone me back !!

I am still waiting for someone in their UK Office to phone me back !! Can you clarify what you mean by "bumped" ? Do you mean they've moved you to a different suite to the one you selected, or do you mean they've cancelled you off the cruise itself? Assuming you didn't book this with a TA - if you did they should be dealing with this for you. If they've cancelled your cruise, and you booked direct, I would go straight to Head Office US. Notts Outlaw Posted July 24, 2014 #38 Share Posted July 24, 2014 My TA are dealing with it but I am getting fed up with a three/four way delay in dealing with this - Seabourn in Seattle to Seabourn UK to TA to myself and then backwards are forwards !! We have had a set cabin booked sine May 2013 and then on Monday I found out by pure chance that we no longer had that cabin. Seabourn are claiming that the cabin was removed by accident from our booking on 18 July 2014 and then allocated to someone else. Yet they are trying to get us to move and not the people who were wrongly allocated our reserved cabin !! One wonders why ?!! So far, the alternative cabin they have offered us is totally unsuitable. The whole thing is leaving a nasty feeling.
Mr Luxury Posted July 24, 2014 #39 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Does your TA book a lot with Seabourn ? Some have more clout than others I have not heard of this happening before Which suite and category is the one that you booked
Notts Outlaw Posted July 24, 2014 #40 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Unfortunately the agent who we have always dealt with and was excellent and would have sorted this out for us has now left TC. Our cabin was midships V6 and the only alternative that they have offered us so far is at the back of the ship
Nigella Posted July 24, 2014 #41 Share Posted July 24, 2014 I'm confused by your 'at the back of the ship' comment. As far as I'm aware, SB doesn't have suites at the back of the ship, they are all midships or forward. V6 is midships, so what category is the suite they are offering you now? You must keep pushing your TA. It's their responsibility to work with SB to resolve this satisfactorily for you. I feel certain that this can be resolved, but do please let us know how you get on. mrscrab Posted July 24, 2014 #42 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Earlier on this thread there was mention of the $400 voucher. From our experience this cannot be given to the crew fund. The $400 appeared on our credit card a/c and we had really wanted this money to go to the crew. Husband wasn't happy and neither was I.
Chairsin Posted July 24, 2014 #43 Share Posted July 24, 2014 I am not sure if you are referencing the referral voucher or some other voucher. But I can tell you from personal experience on numerous occasions we have been able to use part of our $400 shipboard credit to make a donation to the crew welfare fund. Tillylovesseabourn Posted July 24, 2014 #44 Share Posted July 24, 2014 The only suites at the back of the ship are on odyssey and quest and are penthouse spa suites, which have recently been added. Do you have a room number and i can confirm or not whether this is the case. Out of interest, were you on a guarantee or did you give permission for an upgrade to your TA if available? Notts Outlaw Posted July 24, 2014 #45 Share Posted July 24, 2014 We have had a fixed suite booked since May 2013 and only found out by pure chance that we had been "bumped" out of this suite and that our reservation had been changed to show only a guaranteed v6 suite (which could have been anywhere on the ship). We were not approached about this, either directly by Seabourn or via our TA. It was only when we complained about this to our TA that Seabourn came up with an offer of one of their new Spa Suites at the back of the ship that is only accessible via a staircase. We do not like or want a suite (of any kind) at the back of the ship and access to any suite has to be via a lift/elevator as I have an arthritic knee joint. We have told Seabourn that their offer is not acceptable and we are still waiting for them to come back. We still do not understand why they are insisting on us changing suite instead of the other people who were only, wrongly, allocated our suite SIX DAYS AGO !! Tillylovesseabourn Posted July 24, 2014 #46 Share Posted July 24, 2014 We booked The spa suite which is large and very nice, just come back from staying in one on the Odyssey. However, access is as you state only via quite a tight spiral staircase. Also, even though the sea was like a mill pond, you could still feel quite a lot of movement. However, the big issue for us was, even though Seabourn say they have sorted it out. We encountered many soot issues, even with the new canopies installed above the balcony. We could not sit or eat out on many occasions, far from ideal. Your situation sounds like Seabourn have behaved really badly, stick to your guns, if you have booked a specific suite then you should not be pushed out of it! You need a specialist cruise agent as TC no nothing about the cruise industry and are just a general travel agent and flight operator.Yes they are a big name but not in the luxury cruise business They book package holidays. When buying a cruise in the luxury sector you must only use someone that specialises in luxury cruises, not a general TA. You will not be able to solve problems like you are having if you use a general TA
Notts Outlaw Posted July 24, 2014 #48 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Thank you for the information on your problems with the spa suite. It looks like Seabourn are trying to fob us off with a suite that nobody wants. Anyone know a contact at Seabourn, here in the UK or at head office in Seattle who WILL get things sorted ? You will not be able to solve problems like you are having if you use a general TA We have dealt with TC for a number of years but always directly with an excellent agent who worked from home and had very good relations with all the cruise lines, including the luxury ones. Unfortunately she has recently left TC so we have no direct person to sort this out for us now - as our previous agent would have done. Unless they pull their finger out, it is unlikely that TC will get any more of our business in the future.

Well spotted Tilly, I was driving myself mad trying to think of a suite at the back of the ship, I've only been on Sojourn in the last year so forgot all about the spa suites.
