Casey2 Posted February 13, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2005 DH and I are sailing roundtrip from Vancouver on the Radiance of the Seas on 9/17/05. We were booked for the 1:50 flight home. We were just informed that our flight was cancelled and the latest flight home that day is 12:20. I heard there are long lines for customs both at the ship and at the airport. Will we have enough time to make the flight? We were planning to do 3 nights in Vancouver pre cruise. Now we are thinking we should do 2 nights pre and 1 night post cruise. Any suggestions? tedjazz Posted February 13, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2005 Passengers with earlier flights have priority for first Disembarkation. I think you can get the information from the Cruise line about how to go about getting off early to make your flight. Don't panic yet.
42trvl Posted February 14, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2005 Last summer some cruise lines offered you the option of checking in and doing some of the Customs formalities on board, then being transferred directly to the airport. If this is still offered, it would save you a great deal of time, and you should be able to make your flight. When we flew back from Vancouver many people were coming off cruises that morning for flights between noon and 1pm, and noone seemed to be having problems. We spent a couple of days in Vancouver after our cruise, and even with taking our time getting off the ship we were off by 9am, which would give you enough time to get to the airport. denamo Posted February 17, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 17, 2005 Last summer we were on the Serenade and had the same situation with airline time changes. Book a transfer to the airport with the cruiseline. They will also have you turn in a paper early in cruise saying you have an early flight. You should be fine. Our time arrangement was approximately the same and taking the transfer to the airport with the cruiseline made all the difference. You don't have to get your luggage at the pier when you arrive. They will load it on the bus and get you to the airport. Have a great time! Denamo
Rare Coral Posted February 17, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 17, 2005 You should be OK. Just make sure the ship knows of your flight time.
