I need transportation advice to get from the airport in Philadelphia to Bally's in Atlantic City (Next to Ceaser's).

I arrive around 5pm on a Monday to Philly. I am traveling with my wife and 2 sm and 1 lrg suitcase.

Any help is appreciated.

I would rent a car. It's an easy drive...just over an hour. Take I 95 north from the airport to the Walt Whitman Bridge. After crossing the bridge take the Rt. 42 freeway to the Atlantic City Expressway.

If you're interested in using mass transit, you can take the SEPTA airport rail line from PHL to the Amtrak 30th St. station in Philadelphia, then take the NJ Transit train to Atlantic City. From the Atlantic City railroad station, take a taxi to Ballys. Looking at the train schedules, the earliest you could arrive at the Atlantic City railroad station is 8:45pm, assuming all modes of transportation including your flight run according to schedule.

Thanks Horseman.

I am staying 2 nights in AC and with hotel parking fees renting a car is not in my budget. I like the other suggestion.

Searching through the boards is I found the Megabus, is this feasible? Has anyone tried this?

Parking fees in at the Atlantic City casino hotels are minimal...$5 or $10, and if you join the casino's players club...Total Rewards at Bally's...you'll usually park for free.

I haven't used Megabus, but in quick check of their Web site it didn't appear they had service from Atlantic City to Philadelphia in September. Perhaps they only run that route in the summer months.

Parking in Atlantic City is $5 is you join their club and $10 if not per day. And the jitney is $1.50 from casino to casino or take the car to one casino with the receipt for free. Or walk the boardwalk. $145 for a taxi from the airport to Ballys from Atlantic City Shuttle 609-748-8853.

I'm taking Megabus from 30th Street to AC in September. Now, I see they are only taking reservations through August. But I would check - sometimes they stop the reservations and then reopen them. At least I hope so. I got a roundtrip for $1.75.

ETA - I just e-mailed Mega to see why reservations aren't be taken past 8/31. Even if they were stopping service, I can't imagine that would happen before Labor Day. Maybe everything is full because of the great deals. In any event when/if I hear, I will post the answer here.

I called Bally's and they told me that it costs $5 every time I leave the lot. So about $15 a day plus 3 days rental is around $175 to $200.

With the jitney and cabs, won't it be cheaper not to rent a car? Does it make sense to wander past the boardwalk that I need a car?

The reason I suggested renting a car had nothing to do with your time in Atlantic City. I suggested it as the fastest and most convenient way to travel from PHL to Atlantic City.

The Blue Jitney's from the Train Station to the Casinos are still free, but taking the Jitney around town is $2.25.

SEPTA, to 30th Street and NJTransit Train may be the cheapest route, or SEPTA to Market East Station and a NJTransit Bus to AC.

Also, I just stayed at Showboat (Bally's/Harrah's sister property), and for hotel guest, we payed $5.00 once, and had in and out priviledges during our entire weeks stay. They stamp a receipt/slip from your hotel checkin slip and you give it to the cashier who validates it. It has you check in and check out date. It's two parts, so you can separate it, and use it for two cars.
