OASIS: Another price drop

Recommended Posts

On RCI web site this PM and noticed Junior Suites have dropped $900 pp. since we purchased in March. We now have an $1,800 OBC per suite. We have 2 Junior suites. No way that we will spend that much on board. Was told that remaining amount would be credited back to our credit card. Anyone have that experience?

When do you leave? Forgive me if I missed the date.

We are sailing on November 6. Due to price drops we have a $3,600 OBC. Needless to say, I'm really wanting the best advice on getting my money back. Don't want it credited back to my CC because I've already that paid off.

You should be able to go to the casino and get cash back. I did that in March after I was issued a $1200 obc. Go to the casino and get cash from your card and your problem is solved. They will bot tell you that you can do this I just happened to stumble upon it. Good luck!! :)

You can get it out at the casino with a 3% charge. (so it will cost $108 to get your price adjustments back; probably should have had the earlier ones go back on your card)

So your JS are costing you about 1k each for Oasis? That's a nice savings.

If it is before final payment, they will subtract the amount from your final payment. If it is after, you should get an OBC.

Be glad you booked in March, because RCCL isn't allowing price drops after final for cruises booked later than Aug. 1 anymore.

I just found this out last week; our October cruise price dropped the day after final payment, how convenient for them to do this! I was told by the TA no OBC! I thought their timing was rather suspicious.

So, you would recommend taking the cash when I get on board. You simply went to purser's desk during the cruise and had no problem getting the cash? Thanks for the advice!!

The credit will not show up till the second day.....I had no problem at all getting the cash.

The casino will charge you a 3% fee.....I was charged NO fee at the pursers desk.

How in the world do they justify that 3% charge? I plan on going to purser and hopefully get my money back.

As for JS savings, I kept checking web site. Saw $400 pp price drop. Called and got that OBC. Then, last week, noticed another $500 pp price drop so I called and got another OBC. Pays to check back often.

Maybe they're trying to entice people to book later than earlier now?;) They are not doing a very good job rewarding people for booking early with their new policy. I would think they would want to reward people who book early so their ships get booked faster. Some accountant probably thought of this new scheme.:D

In my case, on IOS in April, I went to the front desk to request around $1300 in cash midweek from price adjustments after final. I knew I would not be spending it onboard because I had bought as much as I wanted (soda cards, Portofino, etc) and prepaid tips while onboard.

The purser told me I had to go to the casino, who insisted on charging me 3%. I went back to the front desk, and waited about 1/2 an hour while they haggled with the casino on the phone. They finally gave it to me, but said they wouldn't do it again because I should have just gotten the credit back on my card.

So like everything else, YMMV!

So, it looks like there is no set policy. Some have been given the cash with no 3% charge, while others pay. Need advice on I should act when I have to face the purser. Should I act serious , mad , idiotic :p, very nice :), or tearful?

Well, if it is an obc for a price drop, they should credit it back to your card with no problems. They charge the 3% service fee to discourage people from taking money out on their card, getting the double points, and then paying it off. If they gave it to you in cash with no fee that's nice of them but they may say it has to go back on your card or it's 3%.

3% is not a big deal if you're getting a few hundred back but in your case, it adds up.
