jlines Posted September 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2010 We are in Bonaire from noon to 7pm. Since its our first time here I'd like to see some of the island but also want to snorkel. Should we rent a car, hire a taxi, just go to a close beach - any suggestions?
Rare YoPhilly Posted September 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2010 I've been twice and strongly recommend significant time in the water. What you could do is rent bicycles right by the port, take your own snorkel gear, and head down past the airport to the flamingo preserve. Stop along the way to snorkel wherever you please. jayarrG7 Posted September 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 18, 2010 Walk from the cruise ship to the water taxi that takes you to Kleine Bonaire, the island just off the port city. You do not need a reservation or excursion purchased thru the ship. Take everything you need, as there are no facilities of any kind on the island. nho9504 Posted October 1, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 1, 2010 Our ship Emerald Princess would arrive at 12PM and leave 7PM. The ship offers the water taxi excursion to a "no name beach" - I gather it is the sandy part of Klein Beach? The cost of it is $29 person for a total of 3 hours total excursion time. Some where I read the water taxi is $20 per person r/t? That is not much cheaper than the ship's version but with the extra consideration of needing to run on schedule. ellbon Posted October 2, 2010 #5 Share Posted October 2, 2010 i would just go to a beach or see if Woodwind changes their snorkel for ships guests.. later rent a taxi and see part of the island then stop for a drink somewhere in town.
