Flight Check-In, while still onboard ship

check and see if your ship offers the service where they check in for you and get you your boarding passes and your luggage tags and so on. We paid $20 on Carnival Liberty, set our bags out the night before and saw them again at our airport at home when we arrived. No lost bags, no toting them through customs, it was GREAT.

Not every ship offers it, and your flight has to be timed such that they can do it (ex: you aren't leaving on an 11 a.m. flight), but wow, what a great service that was. Worth every penny for convenience sake!

If you can call back to someone you know at home on your cell phone when you arrive back in San Juan, you can ask if they will check in for you.

Don't worry about printing out boarding passes - there are kiosks at the airport that can do that.

Our cell service includes San Juan, since it is in the USA, so there is no fee to use the cell phone there.

Don't most airlines give you the option of checking in for your return flight as you're checking in for your departing flight? I know Continental does...

Continental does an auto check in for the return flight that automatically checks you in when the return flight is 24 hours out but most airlines do not have that as an option. Southwest will but they charge $10 service fee per flight.

That would be nice, but...United and Frontier don't offer it:(

We just leave out itinerary at home and have a family member check us in. As the op said...you can print your boarding cards at the airport. Same with checked baggage....have someone pay the online price for you with your credit card and save a little. Once again, print at the airport.

Works with Southwest also so you can get your boarding number.

Thanks for the info on Continental checking you in for your return..didn't know about that.
