jotabecu Posted September 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 17, 2010 We had been scheduled to sail on Viking Kirov 8/22/10 Moscow to St. Petersburg, and due to an accident that a barge had with the Kirov, the previous sailing was cut short and our trip and future ones were cancelled. We were already in Europe and were notified when on a short stay in Paris and had to rearrange and replan our trip in its entirety for the main element (river cruise) had dissapeared from it. Our travel agent and Viking personnel behaved in a very professional manner throughout, our flights and other expenses which were non refundable, have been refunded entirely and promptly by Viking, as well as our cruise fare along with a credit voucher for future cruises. We wished to take this opportunity to acknowledge the fact that Viking has treated us like wanting us to keep being their customers and we intend to do so. roothy123 Posted September 20, 2010 #7 Share Posted September 20, 2010 Our Viking Danube trip last year had some blips because of lock and water problems. Viking handled everything (reroutings, hotels, etc.) beautifully, so it's no surprise to hear that you were pleased with their response to you! Viking is great! brownblonde Posted September 20, 2010 #8 Share Posted September 20, 2010 Our first river cruise was with Viking and we are taking another trip with them in March 2011 to China for 17 days. We did Viking China in 2006 and it was great. I'm sure you will enjoy. The hotels were the B EST boat was nice also. I think you'll get tired of the Chinese food. We never ate alot of it and haven't had any in the 4yrs. It isn't like the strip store resturants here in USA

janetcbl Posted September 25, 2010 #14 Share Posted September 25, 2010 We just booked our first river cruise with Viking! We are excited! WEealso tok the Prage pre-cruise with them. Has anyone been on Romantic Danube with Viking? Any advice? Any your advice regarding shore excursions? Thanks. Rosana:) We just returned today from the Viking Danube trip and it exceeded all expectations! This was our 2nd Viking cruise. We did the Prague pre extension and added 3 days more days ourselves to Prague before the extension and even that wasn't enough time in that fantastic city. The towns/cities along the Danube were all interesting and in Budapest you had the option of a bus city tour or "roughing it" (with a guide) using public transportation and walking to explore the city---a great way to discover the town! Guides were all good. The food ws excellent including wine with dinner. You had the option of a lighter lunch on some days if didn't want a heavy meal in the middle of the day. Don't miss the evening concert in Vienna! We also greatly enjoyed the day In Chesky Krumlov. And, believe it or not, but WE HAD PERFECT WEATHER the entire trip!!!! Sunny and warm (55 - 70) every single day. Enjoy!
