Splendor using a different dock in PV?

I've noticed the Splendor has used a different dock the last several weeks in Puerto Vallarta. From an aft cabin we used to view wally-mart. Now it would face back to the west? (Wonder if you can see the bull fights from the port side)

Any theories/ideas why the made the change? And why they moved departure time from 10PM to 9PM?

There are actually 3 different docking positions in the PV cruise ship basin and the actual dock assignment is normally based on which ships are in port that particular day. If there is only one ship the port authority will assign the dock although we understand they are open to suggestions. As to a ship deciding to leave one hour early, we suspect it is about money. That one extra hour means the ship can cruise a little slower to its next port (this saves fuel) and also means they can open the casino and shops one hour earlier.

Most of the time she's actually in the 'main' position, but facing in instead of facing out, so you see WalMart. This last week RCCL was in their spot, so they had to use the secondary dock, which gives you a completely different view from the bridge cam. Last year when we were on the Splendor, all ship's itineraries were changed because of Hurricane Rick and an RCCL ship was where we were supposed to go, so we were in the secondary spot and had a longer walk to the shops, etc. Hopefully, next month we'll be in the regular place.

Thanks for the response. I hope she is in her normal spot in November, that could be a long hike back to the boat. Facing the opposite direction will be a change. Last three years we have had an aft cabin looking over the city (and Walmart), guess there is nothing wrong with a sunset view though.

Thanks again.
