Mura Posted January 24, 2011 #76 Share Posted January 24, 2011 Look again, Yorkiemom. The way I read their post, PH is NOT entitled to two reservations ...
StanandJim Posted January 24, 2011 #77 Share Posted January 24, 2011 Oh, has something changed so that the PH cabins on the Marina now do get two reservations per specialty restaurants as many folks were expecting? No. On the Marina, unless you are in an Oceania Suite, or above, it's one reservation per specialty. It will be interesting to see how that effects the demand for Penthouses versus Concierge staterooms.
Oceans&Rivers Posted January 24, 2011 #78 Share Posted January 24, 2011 No. On the Marina, unless you are in an Oceania Suite, or above, it's one reservation per specialty. Yes, that is what we came to learn, unfortunately, as we had upgraded to a penthouse for the 2-8-2011 "Inaugural Voyage" and then we cancelled that altogether, and truthfully not only because we prefer boarding in San Francisco, although we do....by a wide margin. There's nothing better to us than a San Francisco sailaway! It will be interesting to see how that effects the demand for Penthouses versus Concierge staterooms. Now we have a penthouse booked for an "R" ship, but not for the Marina, and we are watching and waiting to see how difficult it is for passengers in all categories of staterooms to dine more than once in each of the Specialty Restaurants. O&R I am a bit confused. Did you also cancel the Feb 26th SF-MIA?
wripro Posted January 25, 2011 #81 Share Posted January 25, 2011 StanandJim, It will also be interesting to see the demand for concierge cabins vs. regular cabins on Marina. Imo, there is absolutely no reason to book a concierge cabin and pay extra since the cabins are identical and you get no extra restaurant reservations. At least in a PH you get all that extra room. Paulchili Posted January 26, 2011 #83 Share Posted January 26, 2011 You've forgotten the Concierge Lounge and its' dedicated staff. Do we know what exactly they will do for you extra or what the lounge itself will offer? Hopefully more than free capuccino and sodas :D
wripro Posted January 26, 2011 #84 Share Posted January 26, 2011 No, I haven't forgotten it. Just not sure it makes the extra money worth it. We'll find out soon enough, I suppose.
pklaguna Posted April 12, 2011 #85 Share Posted April 12, 2011 So many replied regarding the Concierge level on the Marina. WE are scheduled on a 10 day Venice to Rome in October on the Marina. We paid for the Concierge level with the expectation of Holland America Concierge. Please advise as to what I can expect. It appears that in 5 pages of notes, most had not actually enjoyed their cruise. Also please advise if you had a difficult time with reservations. pklaguna Posted April 12, 2011 #87 Share Posted April 12, 2011 Please advise as to what to expect in the Concierge lounge on the Marina. I read all threads and most had not sailed. We are sailing in October on the Marina Venice to Rome.
JimandStan Posted April 12, 2011 #88 Share Posted April 12, 2011 Please advise as to what to expect in the Concierge lounge on the Marina.I read all threads and most had not sailed. We are sailing in October on the Marina Venice to Rome. The Concierge Lounge is a large living room like setting with sofas, comfy chairs and a big screen TV. Magazines and Newspapers are scattered about, and there are four "extra" computer stations in one corner. A Concierge is normally on duty in the room. Snacks are served, on a rotating basis, What is served varies dependant on the time of day (i.e. Danish in the morning, canapes' at cocktail time etc). There are several large refrigerators with bottomless stocks of the water and soft drinks which are now served gratis on the ship. Coffee and Espresso are also available whenever.
