dohertm1 Posted September 30, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 30, 2010 There is no smoking in the cabins of Royal Caribbean ships -- a big plus -- and no smoking in most public areas (the casino is an exception). I did not like the fact that Royal permits smoking on the deck where the running track is located on the Freedom. You can smoke outdoors one on side of the deck. 39august Posted September 30, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2010 Actually, deck 4 is not the "running track". That is on deck 12. I believe there are signs asking pax not to run on deck 4 on Freedom and Voyager class ships. But, yes, there is smoking on one side of the wraparound outside deck. Usually it is port side, but not always. On Voyager class ships I believe there is no smoking in any of the Promenade area. However, that is not the case on Freedom class as smoking is still allowed in the pub and in Bolero's...or it was last week anyway. Smoking is allowed on balconies. Of course, no smokiing in any dining venue or in the theater.
COMBOY Posted September 30, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2010 (edited) We are considering this cruise line and are wondering if smoking is allowed in any of the public areas or cabins, I hope not! Here a CC article regarding smoking policies of all cruise lines. http://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=225 All cruise lines permit smoking to some degree as smokers do make up a certain portion of cruisers. Celebrity is the only one that doesn't allow smoking on balconies and almost all cruise lines allow smoking in the casino, but dining room, corridors, and main theater are always non smoking. ncb106 Posted September 30, 2010 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2010 The boleros on the freedom of the seas is non smoking, the bar tender was telling me since they put boleros non smoking boleros been empty and they not making that much money,it group of 100 guest wrote to the hotel director that should put one side of the boleros smoking,i agree smokers pay the same amount as the non smokers and its not fare that the non smokers get to enjoy the whole ship and the smokers only have a little places to go,that on the freedom of the seas, but hopefully it will change some bars arent making money becouse of that
Albert Ross Posted September 30, 2010 #9 Share Posted September 30, 2010 We are considering this cruise line and are wondering if smoking is allowed in any of the public areas or cabins, I hope not! The actual answer is 'it depends' on where you are sailing. No -smokling is never allowed in the cabins and yes; smoking is always allowed on the balconies - but the smoking venues inside the ship depend on where you are sailing. If in Europe from Spain or Italy you will find far more venues inside the ship allow smoking - such as the pub or Boleros. So if you are specific with your ship/port I'm sure someone will be able to provide the correct answers.
Jimnbigd Posted September 30, 2010 #10 Share Posted September 30, 2010 I guess all of us non-smokers didn't book enough on the Carnival Paradise back when it was smoke free. Even the crew was not allowed to smoke. I applaud Carnival for trying such a bold experiment, even though it failed.
GEORGET Posted September 30, 2010 #11 Share Posted September 30, 2010 (edited) We are considering this cruise line and are wondering if smoking is allowed in any of the public areas or cabins, I hope not! You may be better using their Sister company Celebrity. RCCL have different policies in different ports of departure. UK is the most restictive Med least. They cannot afford to totally ban smoking as they would loose a lot of customers. If you are from the uk IOS only has two bars smoking and there are a lot of discounts on Celebrity. I notice you have asked the same question on Princess and NCL g Edited September 30, 2010 by GEORGET

Honestly, my experience has been that smokers are very courteous and observant of the rules. Unless I have chosen to go to a smoking venue, like the pub, I don't see or smell smoke. . All I said is that I feel like there's a lot of smoking areas. I don't think what I said sounds like me saying smokers are bad people, who break rules and are disrespectful. Unless I have chosen to go to a smoking venue, like the pub, I don't see or smell smoke. . This has been my experience, too. Most smokers on the cruises I have been on have been very courteous about smoking in the designated areas, and I don't have a difficult time as a smoke-sensitive person avoiding those areas.
