Squirt09 Posted September 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2010 First time cruiser on the Nieuw Amsterdam on February 20, 2011. Looking at booking the Pinnacle and Tamarind Rest at least once during the cruise. I just spoke with Ship services and they state that the online booking is "only a request". They also state that when I book online my credit card is immediately charged either the $15 or 20$ depending on the restraunt. Questions: 1. What are the chances of not getting the reservations since it is "only a request" and you have to confirm once onboard? 2. If my credit card is automatically charged at the time of booking, what happens if I need to cancel before the reservation? Will be booking for 6 people but at this time not sure if all 6 want to do this. Do you get a refund? Sorry if these have been already answered somewhere..... sail7seas Posted September 30, 2010 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2010 If you choose to cancel your reservation, you will get a shipboard credit against your OBC refund. We have always reconfirmed our Pinnacle bookings once we arrive at the ship but have never had them not honored. This is the first time I have heard 'request only' pertaining to in advance reservations. KrazyKruizers has stated she once had a Pinnacle reservation rescinded but that is the only time I have heard of that happening.
fridayeyes Posted September 30, 2010 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2010 I made a Pinnacle reservation for my upcoming Oosterdam cruise. Apparently, I picked a night when the Pinnacle was fully booked, either due to a large group onboard, or for HAL's special Le Cirque night. Ship's inventory emailed me and called me to see if I would move the booking to a different night, which I did. They were extremely courteous and helpful. Odds are you'll get what you want. If the venue is booked, they will assist you with moving the reservation. If that doesn't work, I am certain you will get credit or a refund. Cheers! Krazy Kruizers Posted September 30, 2010 #4 Share Posted September 30, 2010 If you cancel the reservation up to 3 days before your cruise -- the money will go back onto your credit card. If you cancel anytime after that or once on board -- then you get shipboard credit. Yes -- it happened to us. A large group had booked on our cruise -- and they booked the Pinnacle for every night. We had prebooked the Pinnacle on the Eurodam months in advance -- this was for a cruise 2 years ago. When we went to reconfirm -- it was a no-go. We got shipboard credit. Thankfully we had the Tamarind we could book on short notice.
m steve Posted September 30, 2010 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2010 sounds interesting. Was it a chef's table type dinner?
fridayeyes Posted September 30, 2010 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2010 I have not been to a Le Cirque night in the Pinnacle - but it's a special, seasonally changing menu often served on Friday nights. The menu follows what's being served in the Le Cirque restaurant in... NY? Caveat - I am repeating stuff I read here. ;)

taxmantoo Posted September 30, 2010 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2010 There are no stupid questions on CC. Oh yes, there are... When a person asks a question, it is not a stupid question. When the same person asks the same question a second time, then it becomes a stupid question ;)

m steve Posted September 30, 2010 #13 Share Posted September 30, 2010 Is this dinner offered on all ships or just one? Has anyone seen the menu? I haven't eaten at Le Cirque in many years but would not expect HAL to meet their standards on food, service or preparation.

Here's where I read about it: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=25843456&postcount=15 You may want to start a thread to reach a wider audience with your question. You may not get much traffic in this one. :)
