It's Columbus Day....remember why????

Recommended Posts

In 1492

Columbus sailed the ocean blue

...gosh, I forgot the rest of that one...

The Nina, the Pinta, the Santa Maria

Were sailing vessels three

They boarded the ships in the harbor of Palos

To cross the western sea

Columbus was their captain bold

His men a motley crew

Their voyage bold, a story told

Of 1492!

Inquiring minds really want to know how long it took Cristobal Colon (aka Christopher Columbus) to make Diamond +;)!

Happy Columbus Day all!

Only us Italians celebrate that his given name was Cristoforo Columbo from Genoa Italy. All this other stuff is just to satisfy revisionist history

and make it fit to various cultures except the original one.

Can you imagine trying to get a crew to sign a contract these days which

would state that there is a high probability of not returning except for the

word of the Captain that this would not occur? Better give more than a 15% gratuity on that one.

I heard that none of the three ships had specialty restaurants, spas, hot tubs, flow riders, rock climbing walls, carousels, concierge lounges, promenades, towel animals......what a bummer!!!! But the price was right - only a few pieces of eight (balconies slightly higher).

Good thing they didn't have e-mail either.

Would it look something like this e-mail.

Dear Queen Isabella,

Discovered new island, some indigenous people here, but I found it first...

Sorry about the Santa Maria.

Happy new year,

Chris.

Come to think of it - those ships had the first Aqua Theatre's with high diving acts......I believe that they called it "walking the plank". Here's a revelation - I now know where the idea for having pirate pictures in the main diningroom came from....arrrrr!!!!

You should thank Leiv Eiriksson/Leif Ericson:)

I agree the Vikings got their first, Columbus just had a better PR agent.

I'm sorry that's just funny! My Grandma used to make Lutefisk and I swear the smell alone could take paint off the walls. But then while she was a wonderful lady, she was a terrible cook, as Grandpa always said, "She could burn water and make it smoke"
