Groliv Posted October 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2010 We have booked our first cruise on Carnival (Imagination on 01/03/11) but have only cruised NCL before. My only dining experience is "freestyle", so I am wondering if we will be seated with other people ? I am going with my two kids (12 and 15) so I would welcome the company at dinner ! Just wondering how it works. And if they match you up in anyway with similar families ? I chose early seating. Thanks !:)
cb at sea Posted October 16, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 16, 2010 Yes, you may be seated with others....and that's GREAT! It's fun to have other, like-minded folks to talk to at dinner! The bigger the table, the better, IMO! They do try to put families with families....couples with couples, singles with singles, etc.... Do NOT be afraid of tablemates! Introduce yourselves and get on with the fun!
happy cruzer Posted October 16, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2010 Yes, you will be seated with compatiable folks. If for some reason you want to change, just go to the Maitre D to change. They will make you happy!
Soleil09 Posted October 16, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 16, 2010 They also have 4 person tables..so you may have a table all to yourselves (but we always like having tablemates :))
Groliv Posted October 19, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted October 19, 2010 This is great news ! Thanks ! I really was hoping for tablemates ! Don't get me wrong, I love my kids, but it will be nice to have some conversation with some adults too ;)
SciFiCruiser Posted October 20, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 20, 2010 On my honeymoon cruise, my husband and I were seated with another honeymoon couple. They requested a change to sit with people they had gotten to know during embarcation...no big deal. Our second cruise, we sat at a table with other lovely couples. Each night we took turns getting a bottle of wine for the table. Strangely, one of other women was as far into a pregnancy as I was (@ 12 weeks) and neither of us had told anyone who may have made the table assignments (nor could we enjoy the wine being shared)
Groliv Posted October 20, 2010 Author #7 Share Posted October 20, 2010 When we cruised on NCL, with "freestyle" cruising, we hated it. Everynight we'd do to dinner (and there were many dining options to choose from on the Gem) and so often they gave us a flashing thing and we had to wait like 45 minutes ! I debated on choosing Carnival's "my time dining" this time, but I am worried with what we will get ?? Carnival's site says that a wait would be on average 20 minutes. On NCL we were not allowed to share a table because we had children. I have chosen early dining right now, but WANT to be seated with table mates since I so enjoyed it on previous cruises. I hope they don't assign us a small table for just the 3 of us !
