Navigator f cat guarantee

Hi everyone. Very experienced "cruiser"but new to Regent. My ta is suggesting that we take a guarantee cat f for a midwinter Caribbean cruise. His reasoning is that because it is the most inexpensive cabin with a balcony we have nowhere to go but up. Do you guys agree? Are there any dangers with this approach? I am not necessarily looking for an upgrade, just looking for good value.

WJ,

The danger with your TA's reasoning is that you might get a Cat F suite. Navigator has a lot of vibration aft. All the Cat F suites are aft. So unless you are willing to accept some heavy vibration in your suite, I would advise taking no less than a Cat E guarantee. This is what we did last April on the Navigator and we were assigned to suite 623 which was in an excellent location.

Hope this helps.

Dave

Agree 100% with what has been posted. Cat E. We booked Cat E for our Alaska trip this past summer. It was so popular that they gave us a free upgrade to PH B just to have our room to sell! The navigator has significant vibration at the aft portion of the ship, even now after they redid the aft portion of the hull. Since Cat F are all aft, E and above is the way to go. Friends traveling with us booked Cat H because they didn't want a balcony. Their room was great! All the cabins, H up to PH A are exactly the same. G and H do not have balconies, but no different inside. PH cabins have butler service, but room is same size. So, if you want a balcony, book Cat E and up.

Just back this month from Nav. We booked an H (picked a cabin) and paid a couple hundred for an upgrade to D, offered one week before sailing. Since the cruise wasn't full, most guarantees got upgrades, some free. If your cruise is sold out, you'll get no upgrade. I would think the F's would be fine on smooth seas. On rougher seas, the mid-ship cabins would be better. If you gamble at all, the casino staff and blackjack tables are the best!

Wanted to go as cheap as possible on the Navigator.

Our TA would only allow us two choices of cabins.

We could book H cabin with window or E cabin with balcony.

Absolutly were not allowed to book F cabin.

Since we have gotten spoiled with balconies we did E cabin.

SO GLAD WE DID!!

You hear lots of comments about the vibrations on the Navigator.

Trust Me! They are real!! The back half of the ship really vibrates

all the time. You can still feel it half way forward but is exceptable.

Don't take this lightly.

If there is a possibility of rough seas, another area you may want to avoid are the suites in the front of the ship -- especially the ones on upper decks.

The Navigator is a great ship. . . . but, she is small and can have a rough ride at times. . . . lower decks and mid-ship is the best place to be IMO.
