Ocean Village 1 aka Pacific Pearl is on her way to Singapore (2 threads merged)

Recommended Posts

I sent an email to P&O England about the trip from Crete to Singapore (dry dock) for the refit. They replied that this trip would be accommodating an army of people who will be flat out pulling up carpets, fixtures and fittings in preparation for the arrival in Singapore.

This link takes you to the Ocean Village ebrochure which has some video clips and other details about Ocean Village. I dont believe the link is in contravention of a TA recommendation as this ship is now out of service.

Thanks for that information . I was wondering if they were operating that trip as a cruise or not.

Bit like when Pacific Princess was taken over at Tahiti. She sailed to the dock in Singapore with workmen on board getting everything ready for the big change.

I agree with CruiseAdict, she is still on her second to last day, the webcam pics look like the greek mainland port of Katakolon which is the last port before Heraklion in Crete. At the present time she is sailing and is expected to dock at approx 4am Thu 21 Oct.

Well they have given you bad information.

She sets sail with a FULL compliment of some 1400 passengers later today on a 3 week cruise, so no there is not an army working on her until Singapore!!!

The only place they could do that is the kids club as they have made this an adult-only voyage.

She ends service on Saturday 13th November when she arrives in dry dock http://www.oceanvillageholidays.co.uk/fond-farewell.aspx at Singapore after her final cruise!

So why where we locked out of that cruise?

I triedto book that one

but no one down here could tell me anything about it..

Only for the Brits????

Same reason we can't book P&O AUS direct I guess.

Plus the system crashed when they tried to put tickets on sale as the demand was so great they could have been sold many times over at ridiculous prices!!

from the P&O face book progress report

Dear Pacific Pearl blog readers,

Well, time is slipping by very quickly with Ocean Village on her final cruise now to Singapore for conversion into Pacific Pearl, starting on the 13th November.

Our dedicated project team, contractors and crew have a very busy month ahead of them in dry dock with a project scope covering everything from Dining to Safety & Security upgrades to Technical refits. Specialist superintendents, managers, consultants and coordinators will work tirelessly to prepare Pacific Pearl to leave dry dock for sea trails on the 4th November. The list of jobs is definitely intimidating!

Launch event planning is also underway for Auckland’s Queen’s Wharf on 21st December. We hope to bring a carnival like atmosphere to life, with a four-hour public event alongside Pacific Pearl in port, with fair-style attractions and award-winning entertainers (we’re desperate to tell you who they are, but we can’t just yet!). The theme, of course, will be a South Pacific Christmas party with food stalls serving cuisine representing the on board restaurants offerings (Salt Grill included).

Lars Kristiansen, Director of Food & Beverage Operations (who most of you will remember from Masterchef) and Greg Dehn, our Special Events Director were in Auckland recently, sampling dishes for the launch event. Talk about a tough job.

Stay tuned, as the official launch event details will be posted here on the blog – and we can finally release the name of our big act talent. You definitely don’t want to miss out.
