Single night hotel in New Orleans near French Qtr?

It looks like the first weekend in April almost all of the hotels in the French Quarter are requiring more than 1 night's stay.

Anyone have any insights to any hotels that are close without the 2+ night minimum? We're flying in on Saturday morning and cruising out Sunday.

Not sure what is going on then, but the hotels are not cheap then.

I might look into a refundable rate at Holiday Inn Superdome. They have a shuttle that should be able to take you to the French Quarter (might need to cab it back). The shuttle should also be able to take you to the port the next day, so that will save a few bucks.

Maybe Quality Inn and Suites.

Drury Inn seems available.

Bourbon Orleans seems to be available.

If you are sure you will be staying, then a nonrefundable rate is ok, but a refundable at least gets you a room and maybe more options will show up closer to your sail date and you can shop around more.

Try various rate options that you might qualify for (e.g. AAA). Try hotels.com, bookit.com and the usual suspects. Just be sure to read the find print as to the cancellation policy for the specific hotel for the date selected.

The American College of Cardiologists have their convention April 2-5. There are about 40,000 members (not all will be at the convention, but enough to take up most of the beds).

IMHO If you find any room for a single night....take it. Some have a 3 night minimum.

Gambit, can she hook me up too? We're sailing 2/27-3/6. (Mardi Gras) We're in two days early and I found a room no problem. Nice Garden district for $158 total for 2 nights. We thought it'd be a great idea to stay an extra night post cruise, booked our airlines tix and now I can't find a room anywhere thats less than $250. The airport hotels are ok but if we have to taxi it back and forth, dropping off luggage, etc. that'll just bring the price right back up.

a little tip, which is not really a New Orleans only tip, can apply anywhere....try calling local hotels directly (the non-chain ones) and see if you can get a better rate. Sometimes you cna get $20-$50 or more cheaper than website rates. Its all about smoozing the staff, tell them you heard great things about thier hotel and be upfront and tell them your hoping you can get a better rate them the online price, since you really want to stay there but its out of your price range right now....howver Mardi gras is tricky because the ONLY way to get a cheaper rate than published online is if the hotel is not booked up and they need to fill rooms. its the hotel is more than 50% book right now, don't expect to get any cheaper.
