beachbuddy Posted November 10, 2010 #251 Share Posted November 10, 2010 oh patty...I love my keurig and i grind this coffee and use in my single cup basket... love love love the coffee there. Looking at Radios pics reminds me of our trip there this year. Except we were on regular tenders when we went into Samana after doing the beach excursion. Not much going on in the town area. So have to ask Mark where he went in town. Cris, we never went to Samana but we stayed in Punta Cana once at an all inclusive and loved the coffee.....bought lots to take home. catmonkeys Posted November 10, 2010 #254 Share Posted November 10, 2010 Hi Radio! Some questions from a first-time cruiser who will be on the 12/6 sailing on EOS. What tv stations do they have in the staterooms? How much storage is in the tiny interior staterooms? Do you have to purchase any tickets for any of the onboard entertainment? Was there a fee associated with any little classes (cake decorating, etc.)? Can you get off at the ports and get to beaches without an additional fee? Thanks for all the specific posting! It's really helpful to everyone.

It's really helpful to everyone. Catmonkeys, First, we are sailing with you on 12/6 and although you didn't ask me, I thought I would give it a try to answer some of your questions. The inside and outside cabins have about the same storage and it works our fairly well. Not as big as a hotel room but not bad. The showers are the most challenging but it hasn't stopped anyone (as far as I know) from showering. There is no cost for onboard entertainment or classes. You can get off almost all our ports of call and go to the beaches without extra fees other than taxis. Samana is the only exception that I can think of. Labadee is a great beach day and no taxis are needed or available. Hope to see you onboard. Mark
DELTABLUE Posted November 10, 2010 #256 Share Posted November 10, 2010 catmonkeys...You've found the best place to have your cruise questions answered! Having just returned from Enchantment, I'll give Radio a head start on some of your answers. The cake decorating was more of an event than a class. It was a free demonstration, done in the Centrum, and open to any and all who chose to view it from decks 4 through 9. Comedy was a generous ingredient!;):p I just looked over my Compasses and it looks like the only thing you pay for are some classes in the fitness center and the second and third jewelry making classes. If you go to the first jewelry class, they have only 50 free kits that they will give out. If you want to get one, go early and be prepared to go for one, when they give them out. I was not very happy with the way this was done and suggested that a sign up, or sign, in sheet should be used to make things fair. Not sure if they have refined the distribution procedure.
catmonkeys Posted November 10, 2010 #257 Share Posted November 10, 2010 Thanks, guys! I have some more questions about this ship, and will have endless more, I'm sure :D So exactly how much storage room do you get? We have a toddler and need a lot of gear/toys for her. And can a large suitcase fit under the bed? Speaking of toddlers, I thought I saw in a photo some kind of fountain that they can run around in? Any response on the TV channels? We're going to be trapped in the room during naps, etc. What other classes are available? Are there any lectures on interesting topics? Were there a lot of older kids and teens, and if so, were they well behaved? Most importantly, how was the food?
DELTABLUE Posted November 10, 2010 #258 Share Posted November 10, 2010 You can fit your suitcases under the bed. Lift the bed a bit if they don't just slide under.;) There is a children's pool. It was not working the cruise we were on. Not sure why or when it will be back in service. TV...There is a ships' information channel, CNN that goes to CNN international feed at night, Fox News, channels that show port lectures and videos of shows and programs done on the ship, movie channels in different languages and maybe a kids channel. I did not spend much time watching TV in the cabin. We were fortunate enough to have a 5 part lecture on the history of the Broadway musical. The speaker was 80+ year old Dr. William Graham and he was fantastic! Guess the guest lecturers vary from cruise to cruise. There were some teens and no behavior issues. Don't expect many if school is in session. Food...there you have a very subjective issue. That said, if you go hungry and/or can't find something to eat, you are not trying! If you think Denny's is the place you go for a special birthday or anniversary, you may not like some of the veggies or sauces that appear on your plate. On the other hand, if you are used to the finest 5 star restaurants, the food in the MDR might not be up to your standards. With all that understood, there is no shortage of food and you can eat very well on the ship. You can go to the main dining room, the Windjammer Marketplace Buffet, the Solarium or order room service. In addition to what is on the daily menu, you have 'always available' items...steak, chicken breast and fish. Want sauce, no sauce, more of a veggie, no veggie, a veggie from another entree? All you have to do is ask your waiter! If they can accommodate you, they are happy to do so.:D
MagicMike Posted November 10, 2010 #259 Share Posted November 10, 2010 Radio Can you check if there is a Caribbean Stud Poker table in the casino. Started playing on the Explorer last month and hoping they have one on the Enchantment too.
grandmaR Posted November 10, 2010 #260 Share Posted November 10, 2010 Radio- Did any passengers in Samana take the bus tour that goes to Las Terranas and if so what did they have to say about it? Thanks. I took that tour and liked it very well. Our bus broke down and had to be fixed almost before we left the dock, but we went out past the English church and out to a place where we got out to try some of the local food. I didn't want to buy Haitian art, so I walked down to a little cemetery and back. After we got to Las Terranas, we came back and did the whale museum which was quite interesting. Rare Radio Posted November 10, 2010 Author #261 Share Posted November 10, 2010 Hello everyone. . Welcome to Day 7 of “LIVE” from Enchantment of the Seas. We still have 3 nights left for this cruise. We are approaching Labadee, and we are currently sailing at about 16kts, and only have 12nm to go. It is currently 5:30AM, and I will have some approach pics a little later. I was able to get one of the NEW Labadee maps before I came on the Cruise, so I wanted to post it here. It shows many of the new and improved areas at Labadee (Including the Pier) We will pull up to the pier by 7AM, and Explorer of the Seas will be coming along sine of us at 8PM. I think it is great that Explorer and Enchantment will be docked here in Labadee. It shouldn’t be too crowded though. . .All passengers from Explorer and Enchantment is still much less than Oasis of the Seas when she in Labadee. I saw a question about the programming. . . Here is the Answer for my Sailing. It seems that the Dreamworks partnership has a lot to do with Programming. Shrek plays a lot on 33-37. More pics later from our arrival. . . weary traveler Posted November 10, 2010 #262 Share Posted November 10, 2010 Mark.. I'd be interested in your opinion of any damage you view from this intensive hurricane season along the way. I know some pax sailing thru St Lucia saw a lot. Hows the action on the Wheel of Fortune machines? :p Thanks for taking us along as usual.. I look forward to the rest of the review and vacation and ultimately the video you'll produce. Have a great day in Labadee... your worthy thread subscriber.... Rare Radio Posted November 10, 2010 Author #265 Share Posted November 10, 2010 Hello everyone. . . We arrived in Labadee at 6:45AM, and were tied up at the pier by 7AM. The first passengers were walking down the pier by 7:30AM. Explorer of the Seas pulled up to the Pier by 8AM. . . I will be getting off of the ship by 9, and want to see all of the new things in Labadee. The last time I was here was last year (Aug 2009) on Freedom of the Seas, while Labadee was preparing for Oasis of the Seas in December. Here are a few pics from our arrival. . . More pics later ! (many pics later!) Radio Sunshine greets the Enchantment Pool Deck as we approach Labadee The sun is trying to come up to burn up the heavy fog in Labadee, Haiti We inch up to the pier, and are ready to be docked. . . Explorer of the Seas backs up to the Labadee Pier There is a lot of picture taking now from both ships ! OK. . A quick coffee, and its off to Labadee (hmm. . .how many cups have I had already?) . Showtune Posted November 10, 2010 #266 Share Posted November 10, 2010 Catmonkeys- if you are on the Enchantment 12/6 out of Baltimore, then come over to our Roll Call thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=990020&page=48 We are sailing with our 19 month old son. As for pools, the Enchantment does not have a pool or a "Splash Zone" for diapered children. Only potty trained children are allowed. On the Cruise Critic family board many people have suggested bringing a small inflatable baby pool or inflatable baby bath tub which can be used as a bath in your cabin and then brought up to the pool deck and filled with water for the baby to play in. Radio- Love your posts! Have a great day in Labadee!

39august Posted November 10, 2010 #269 Share Posted November 10, 2010 Radio, your pics of Enchantment are making me want to try her for Bermuda next fall. She looks gorgeous! You mentioned a fresh water pool, I believe. Which one is that, please? And other than room service, is there any place to get food after the WJ has closed at night? DELTABLUE Posted November 10, 2010 #270 Share Posted November 10, 2010 I just took a look at the Compass and it says "For an early drink Cafe Latte-tudes and Ben & Jerry's opens at 7 AM and the Pool Bar opens at 9 AM." Not sure that you could get a Bloody Mary at either Cafe Latte-tudes or Ben & Jerry's but maybe I'm wrong. At the other end of the day, the Casino Bar and Viking Crown Lounge are the places you want to visit.;)
