Tipsy252 Posted November 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2010 Just found out we have 5 other ships in port with us (NCL Spirit) on 31 Dec and the estimated number of cruise passengers is 19,376 . Choices are: Do a ships snorkelling excursion - probably going to the same places as every other tour Just go to town and walk around then back to the ship Hire a taxi and driver for the day and try to find an "off the beaten track" beach. Advice please? Any other suggestions?
LHP Posted November 6, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 6, 2010 First of all....a total of 6 ships in Cozumel isn't that big a deal. We have been going there for YEARS...and "in the good ole days"...double digit ships were very common. Now they have Progreso, Belize, Costa Maya etc that has reduced the number of ships in port. So I would suggest that you do whatever excursion you would like ..... have a great day in Cozumel
suewill444 Posted November 6, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 6, 2010 you definitely have choices, but don't wait too long to book something...I think December 31 will be sold out quickly. We booked Nachi Cocom all inclusive day tour for our November cruise and it was sold out after I booked, we got the last spots available...and that is for November. Here is the link for what i booked http://cozumelcruiseexcursions.com/CozumelBeachBreak.htm but they have lots of tours to choose from
laurieb Posted November 6, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 6, 2010 Chankaanab is a beautiful place to spend the day!! Easy to get to, you can go on your own schedule.
maldenmusic Posted November 17, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 17, 2010 There have been 4 or 5 ships in port every time I've been to Coz and i honestly don't think I even noticed it being crowded. We usually just grab a taxi at the pier and head to one of the beaches on the east side.
B40 Tha Cruisa Posted November 17, 2010 #6 Share Posted November 17, 2010 Also, keep in mind that the Ships do not all arrive at the same time. For instance, I know some ships go to Coz from 1pm-10pm, also my cruise is in port from 10am-7pm, others arrive at 8am and leave at 4... For what its worth. Agree with others... Last time I was in Coz there were 6 ships and it was not overcrowded. Also, there are a few different docks that are scattered over a few mile radius, so they are not concentrated in one area. wantocruisemore Posted November 17, 2010 #7 Share Posted November 17, 2010 Chankaanab is a beautiful place to spend the day!! Easy to get to, you can go on your own schedule. There were 5 other ships in port when we were there last week. No problem and did not seem crowded at all. Chankanaab was beautiful and it was not crowded. I think the AI's have a limit on how many people they reserve so that should even help with any crowds for any of them. I was a little stressed about finding a taxi etc. with so many, but no problem.
